Open Carry in Oklahoma

Wow!
Oklahoma will become the 25th state to allow the open carrying of handguns.
Gov. Mary Fallin signed into law Tuesday a measure that allows Oklahomans to openly carry handguns.
The measure, Senate Bill 1733, allows those who are licensed to carry a firearm under the Oklahoma Self Defense Act a choice: to openly carry a weapon or conceal it.
It also allows a property owner to openly carry a handgun on his property without a license
Goes in effect November 1st...

The law does not go into effect until November 1st.

It'll land you in trouble with the police in plenty of states where OC is technically legal. Fortunately, it's totally acceptable and customary here and cops will only ask you about it because they want to compliment you on your choice of gun. I see it on motorcycles almost every day here.

One of the big pushes for the new law was simple.

The old concealed carry law stated that the gun had to be completely concealed at all times. If your jacket fell open and someone saw (gasp) a gun, the gun owner could be arrested or fined. I don't know if that ever happened but it was part of the law. Now you can carry a gun in under your jacket and it you take off your jacket and someone sees your gun it is no problem.

Well, only partially. We're still working on OC, here.

I just went with a buddy to buy a motorcycle. He was afraid to ride it home, so I did. I was wearing a Glock in the small of my back, totally concealed under my t-shirt while at the bank. Once I got on the road, the back of my shirt flew up and I was basically open carrying the whole way home. Totally not an issue here.

It is nice to live in an open carry state. That is one of the very few things Va. has right

for those of us "gun nutz" who carry daily...............LIGHTWEIGHT IS GOOD!

heavy is BAD!

toting big spoons is a PIT...........SIDE! ask me how i know.

bee bopping around the woods with a .44 mag is one thing(i now carry mine cross draw chest) so i can whip my fly rod or spinning rod nailing the poo outta trout.

but doing all the things ya do in a avg. day, a heavy spoon will kick yer azz.

another thing i like re" open carry are HIGH LEVEL RETENTION HOLSTERS! meaning a bad guy cant just walk up behind you and disarm you. something to think about.

concealed...........nobody knows except da shadow!

open or CCW is a huge responsibility and ya better know the laws backwards and forwards.

i have been flamed(like i care) but i carry due to my workload and type of work , with NO ROUNDS in the pipe. i cannot afford an A.D. here. if i were to go in some poo infested area, well then i would carry one in the pipe.

if fishing for trout(read below)...............i always carry with one in the pipe because of prick bears.

dont forget it aint a fashion show(well maybe the holster) buy what fits YOU! not what some clown tells ya to buy. see if ya can rent what ya think ya like. then buy what FEELS GOOD TO YOU!

trust me a full size anything IS BIG!

Which is why you need to use a trigger guard holster

If he had been allowed to open carry, this would not have happened

"Canady is formally charged with evading arrest, and could also be charged with injury to a child.
Police say Canady does have a concealed gun permit."

I don't expect him to have the permit for long.
