Mercedes 97 E420 Tranny
Doesn't shift into third gear now. Slams into R and D, then drives fine aside from lacking the upshift.
Display says 'check engine electronics'. Ideas?

Yes. Take it to a shop that deals in Mercedes transmissions before it explodes and bleeds all over your driveway. It's toast.

Fluid leaks onto the TCU control board. You have to fix this leak, then *normally* replace the TCU. It's about $650 iirc for the seal replacement and the TCU replacement. But do as speeder says and get it fixed quick before it grenades itself, I've had to get a Bens wrench to reset the TCU from limp mode after the repair since it requires a special computer.
