2013 2.0 3 series diesel?
I have read a whole lot of speculation over the last months that the 2.0 diesel will be coming to the US in the 3 series. This engine is delivering 52 MPG in europe.
What is the consensus here? Will Kalifornia kill it? I don't typically buy my cars new, but I would order one of these if they indeed do come out. There isn't too much choice in diesels right now. I am not impressed with the 335D's economy, don't need the X5, not a fan of MB. VW cars are crap chassis quality, Please, please, please..... |

There is no way it's delivering mpg over in Europe, they're on the metric system over there!
(Sorry couldn't resist). Joking aside, isn't a 335D part of the '3 series? I saw some mention that it got pulled for a re-design and will be back for 2013. Kinda like what happened to the Passat TDI. It disappeared for a bit and then bam picked up right where it left off. 1.9 or 2.0 liter sized diesels are already here in the states (Jetta/Passat). BMW if I'm not mistaking already has a 3.0 liter diesel in its X5 on sale now. Hence 2.0 liter should not be of a concern for them emissions wise. Kalifornia would only kill it if it didn't pass emissions and the Europeans have figured out how to make the diesel offerings pass emissions. BTW, yes my post is VW centric, which I am aware you do not like. Not trying to change your mind. Simply I am more aware of the VW offerings versus BMW. I too have been keeping an eye on BMW. I'm ready for a change and would like a BMW if possible rather than a VW. But keep in mind if diesel engines are to Europe anywhere near what CT scanners are to Asia, there is nothing to worry about. They're all in bed with each other technology wise and are salivating over the US market possibilities.... |
