Question Sandblast Teflon pans?

So what does the forum wisdom think of this method of saving a couple of my favorite aluminum pans.
Their glass covers fit tightly, so I don't like the thought of tossing the two.
Any ideas? Heating them to 600 - 700' is out of the question.
BTW, I won't be buying any more Teflon pans.

I would CAST those pans into a big pile of IRON and get some new ones.

sorry.without the teflon coating, they will just be useless..even if they are all-clad pans.

toss them. buy your future teflon from a restaurant supply store...even my 12" is just about $25. use them and keep replacing them. i wont buy high end coated pans. keep the lids. lids dont need to fit perfect anyways.

Throw them out.

The new generation of aluminium pans are much better I use Cirulon Circulon.com - Cookware Home and the non stick is incredible. They take quite a while to heat but they don't burn, and did I mention nothing sticks.

Toss them, you won't get a mirror finish and they will be a pain to clean.

No, I plan to use them as the aluminum pans they are, after removing the Teflon.
I don't see how they would be useless w/o the coating. I have aluminum pans that were born w/o Teflon coating.

Oh, so it's the lack of mirror finish that would render them useless?

Don't cook in bare aluminum. Acid breaks it down, and you don't need it in your system.

The blasting will put stress into the metal and they will deform. Ever sandblasted a thin metal sheet? This compressive stress buildup is used on purpose when shot-peening parts, i.e. connecting rods, but not good for your pans.

I would take the lids and go to WalMart or your local outfitter store and get a set of Lodge cast iron pans that fit your lids. These are cheap and cast iron is the best pan you will ever have if you use it properly.

It would be great if you could machine the interior of the pans. I think AL seasons like CI. Don't wash them, wipe them out. Of course, you can't mess up and burn something in them.
