Maybe I wasn't clear. Only return it if you DON'T use it.
If you use it than you own it.

I would have pulled into the U-haul at LAX on steal if required.

"...uhaul told me they would get a repair man to me by morning". Sure. How about you can blow me and then get blown by the hooks when you show. Meet me at LAX in the morning.

i stabbed a benchmade knife into the dashboard and just sat there envisioning my murder. hookers offered me oral for crack cocaine.."crack? oh, i can buy it from that guy?"..

longest night of my life.

i lived..and learned..take a look at the tires first. and check the pressure..you know they didnt

Boy am I getting flamed for this. As I said if you use the tire you keep it. If not, return it. It's called insurance. You'd think I was shoplifting.

Tire plugs and a 12v compressor.

coupler lock (generic pad lock will work), locking receiver pin, (you will eventually have to stop for bathroom breaks/meals), chunk of bailing wire, small air tank from Summit or Jegs, leather pit gloves.
situating a trailer for air fills at the rest stops is a PIA

i would have to agree with paul here, if you buy something and don't use it or open the box, then return it, i don't see that as an issue. in fact unless it happens to be something that is holiday related, ie. halloween costume, where after the 31st its basically worth alot less than before the 31st, then i can see you might have a point that the value has dropped for this season. i have gone to costco, gotten every colour of dresses and several sizes, have my daughter try it on at home and return the ones that didn't fit or she didn't like. why is that a crime?

This is good advice and you sound like a guy who has BTDT. The tire plug and small compressor would have prevented Vash's situation but it's more likely that you would need it out in the middle of nowhere.

Also, avoid driving around in the ghetto at night when U-haul is closed. ;)

I've had great luck with U-haul's car trailers towing long distance, they are heavy and stable with surge brakes that seem to work fine. But I think the OP said that he was pulling a lighter, flat trailer(?).
