Looking to buy 60's camaro project

Everyone ,

After the recent sale of my 964 I am now searching for a 60's camaro project.
different option packages not real important to me as it will probably end up with an LS1 or a 6.0 out of late model GTO or truck (read EFI) What I am looking for is a car that its all there. it can need floor pans and quaters but most of the pieces need to be there. I will be painting the car as well so paint is non important. I am looking for one in the 3-8K range and with some reasearch what I want appears to be out there but I need to consider shipping in the price along with what it is going to need. Let me know what you may have or know about. I also am not opposed to going over the budget for the right car but I dont want someone elses restoration as those are not my intentions

Interesting cars the first one is most interesting but logistics would possibly be a nightmare?

Camaro? Why not do something more interesting like a Buick GS other A body car from GM that there arent a million of... The parts t swap in the LSxxx are pretty much the same.

Plus, you can get the donor car for a lot cheaper than the Camaro...

The best bodys to find are in Arizone, Nevada and parts of New Mexico & Texas.

California cars get far too much humidity and cost tons to make right.

A friend has three or four 68-69 Camaros in various stages from bone-stock complete and unrestored to "Resto-rod" ready for assembly, and a couple extras, plus the normal assortment of parts one tends to accumulate.

Next time I talk to him I'll ask if he wants to unload anything.

If I ever do another pony car, that is the exact theme I would shoot for.

I agree - why not a pontiac firebird or go A-body?

1968 Chevy Camaro

I think West Coast cars are a lot cheaper due to lack of road salt. We simply have a lot more old cars driving around.

Sounds fun!

Oi, that's a Man Club resignation speech if I ever heard one.

Ya live in the boonies, not a one garage condo in the city.
:D

my garage is retarded..tiny..almost an afterthought to the home.

i can imagine the builder..(homeowners) saying..

"wow, almost done!! the house is going to be great!! let's put the tools away in the garage."
"what garage?"
"eff!"

I'm a GTO guy by birth, but I still think a 69 camaro, with mini tubs, modern engine and drive train (6 SPD of course) and DSE suspension is the coolest car around. Throw a RS frontend on it and for me it's love. With Vintage air, I would drive that car everyday.

mb911 08-09-2012 03:42 PM

my first car was a firebird with a pontiac 350 bored .040 over milled and ported heads, cam, headers so been down that road.

my criteria is it will be a near completly stock looking car but painted like the new ss camaro (the green with black stripes) and i want to put a LQ4 6.0 in it and keep it fuel injected with stand alone efi with possibly a 6 speed. so a resto mod I guess.

going to look at what I think is a good canidate on sunday morning fingers crossed
