Alabama Honey

This is some good stuff. Eating some right now on cereal.

"Did you know that the average grocery store honey contains honey from other countries? It may be bottled in the U.S., but the honey is collected from great distances, such as China, and shipped here.
The nectar source for Pure Alabama Honey bees come from “wild flowers”, which includes a cross section of blooms: dandelion, clover, tulip poplar, holly, blackberry, mimosas, sumac, privet, and more. Basically what we find growing in most of the state. Pure Alabama Honey is raw and strained (as opposed to microscopically filtered), which means it still maintains the pollen granules that are so beneficial. In comparison, pasteurized honey has been heated to a high temperature, thus killing the vitamins, minerals, and enzymes.

I get our honey from a guy up the road.
I call him up and leave a cooler at the end of my driveway with a cheque for $26. in it. He leaves a 4 liter pail of honey when he goes by.

Yummy!

That is one nice thing about dealing with local folks. You know where the stuff is coming from.

Best

Only downside of great honey is that it doesn't come in a squeeze bear bottle. (neat and tidy) My buddy raises bees so he give me a couple pounds a years. I still buy store stuff to put on things that a wont put the good stuff. Like smoothies, marinades. Etc. check the cheap honey. Some is cut with corn syrup.

Local honey has been shown to help with allergies. I guess the premise is that the honey is made with local plants and you can build up a resistance. Don't know if it's true but throwing it out there.

No, that would not have occurred to me. Thanks for the heads up.

My wife cooks with it and if I make lemonade, I use honey.
The guy I get the honey from showed me a sample of honey mixed with cinnamon. OMG it was good on toast!

We probably use ten litres per year.

Yummy.
