are you prone to the Food Coma?
man after lunch i used to doze off at my desk. after lunch meetings, not productive at all.
i often wondered if this was a metabolism thing, indicating something way more sinister in my future. googled it, and it is all about blood going to your stomach. i've recently taken to eating salads at work (2 months or so). started off trying to save money for some elk hunting trip with Jim. it just became habit. lots of greens, sprinkling of random stuff like peas, corn..beets, some bean. i can be just as full, but you know what? no food coma! maybe i'll just keep packing my salad for lunch. something is working. you guys? coma? |
Definitely a luxury as I am fortunately retired. I can go into a "coma" as u call it irrespective of what I eat. It supplements the amount I sleep at night. I think it is a more a man's thing. They seem more capable of doing it than a woman. Definitely a gift and a blessing to be able to nap in the aft. Se u ......ZZZZZZZZZ

It is a little disturbing when you wake up at the desk and the document you were " working on" contains mostly one characterrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

Definitely a carb thing. If I eat a nice salad with protein and an apple I feel great with just enough energy to make it through the afternoon.
If I eat Thai (for example) with a large portion of rice, I feel bloated and extremely tired. Same goes for bread, potatoes and burgers. |
At conferences that last into the afternoon, they don't serve a turkey dinner with all the trimmings. Potatoes and gravy will put you to sleep. I'm told even turkey itself has that effect.
No, it will be light with vegetables and some dairy with possibly some lean meat. |

I find it difficult to sleep standing up, plus lunch can take a while if I have customers.

I call it the "carbo coma". Do like I do, eat breakfast skip lunch and just drink coffee all day.
