John, send pix, could be a Road trip coming up..
|
Thats what I was thinking too byron... Problem for me is the logistics of getting them on home. I'm in LA every other week right now, but usually am already pulling a trailer for work...
|
I'll try to get some tomorrow.. with the 2 things I also let you have 10-12 engines, 3 dune buggies, assorted parts and pieces and if I'm in the right mood you might get the 74 Ghia convert also. want an 88 944 for $500? take it back with you also. how about a couple 60's american iron.. 66 mustang, 60 ranchero, 60 belair, 60 El Camino, 64 tbird. etc.. bring a BIG trailer and take it away.. my daughter just moved back from texas and into a house behind my shop.. didn't have room with all my old cars and stuff stored behind my shed before and then she brings 2 trucks, 66 mustang and 62 olds back with her. need to clear out stuff I don't need and don't want anymore to make room..... so I can get some different stuff
|
Oh wow... That is quite a few trips with a big trailer.... ;)
I'd be happy with a ghia or a thing.... Who has time for both? What part of louisiana are you in? |
Morgan City.. 70 miles east of Lafayette, 90 miles west of New Orleans and 90 miles south of Baton Rouge.. mais..I live tweny-turdy miles down de bayou from where dey film dat swamp people show.. Choot em.. actually.. we don't all talk like that.. maybe sometimes

I guess it's because altogether, it carries a certain air of personalization given to it by its former owner... who must have been an interesting woman. But I know y'all are going to have a lot of fun redoing things and putting your own touches on it. German flags on the doors, maybe? |
3 words..........."THE THING SHOP" AZ. anything ya need for it. know larry, he flys a stearman bi plane with 2 guys here for the military funerals missing man formation.

Desert camo with a post-mounted MG42. Africa Corps hat and goggles.
|
I'm going to hook it up to my truck this morning and haul it over to San Jose Steam Clean and have them do their magic on the under carraige. I have to either take the axles off or block the clutch in though first. I think the transmission is stuck in two gears at once.
More pictures coming soon. |

Dang, cash and opportunity rarely meld... Oh well. There's a few La. aircoolers who would love a shot at that list. You probably know them... CenLA VW Club or Air Coolers Volkswagen Gang - Austin, Dallas, Houston, Killeen, Baton Rouge, San Antonio, etc... we are not a VW club.. |
thought this was a good site... Welcome to our Website!

How similar in dimensions were a Thing and a Kubelwagen?

Whats the guys name? I know two of the guys flying "missing man" formations in Stearmans around here... Johnco, You do not know how hard it is for me to look the other way and not head to your neck of the woods with a trailer right now. Always liked "the Thing's" and yours sure sound like something to save! Joe |
I had a '73 and it was absolutely reliable and indestructable.
|
We made some good progress today cleaning the Thing up and pulling out all the funky wiring, switches, lights, and stuff.

Make sure you have a cover on the positive terminal on the battery....one fat kid and the coils from the seat come in contact. Instant fire....ask me how I know.
