ALDEN, N.Y. (AP) — Officials say John Lennon's killer, who is up for parole for the seventh time, could have a parole hearing as early as Tuesday.
New York Department of Corrections spokeswoman Linda Foglia says Mark David Chapman is scheduled to be interviewed by members of the parole board this week. She says they could make a decision by Thursday or Friday.
Chapman shot Lennon in December 1980 outside the Manhattan apartment building where the former Beatle lived. He was sentenced in 1981 to 20 years to life in prison after pleading guilty to second-degree murder.
Chapman was transferred in May from the Attica Correctional Facility in western New York to the nearby Wende (WEHN'-dee) Correctional Facility. Both are maximum security. The prison system doesn't disclose why inmates are transferred.
Chapman was denied parole for the sixth time in September 2010.

Actually, I kind of hope he gets out. He'd be killed very soon thereafter. I wouldn't mind taking him out myself.

Yup let him rot. Lennon's death truly distressed me. I honestly felt like I lost a friend.

He has as much chance of parole as Charles Manson.

If he was sentenced to 20 years in 1981, why wasn't he released in 2001?

My thoughts exactly... he may be up for parole, but doubt that he will ever get it...

I'm sure everyone on the parole board has an unexplained and expensive Christmas present every time he comes up for air......

His chances of getting parole are likely zero but does he ever stop to think that he might be safer in jail?
Like Elvis Presley I still miss John Lennon.

I don't think I'd like to see Elvis today had he lived. John Lennon might very well have been a very interesting old man. He certainly would have been the Chairman of the Board.

That is if he didn't become a total recluse.
