Need Insight into American Muscle cars that are available
I have a friend down-under (Australia) that is looking for an Amercian Muscle Car - from 1965 to 19 75. he actually has several friends that are also in the market. Normaly that cruz Hemmings or Edmunds but what he really needs is a local rag that lists non-mint muscle.
Any of you guys know anything about these cars and could turn him on to a few leads? he will compensate you. Thanks.

Here's an ongoing thread, making a '68 bullitt clone, on the IMBOC board that your friend may enjoy. It may inspire him, or may make him decide to forget it...
My son's future Bullitt - IMBOC

You may want to do him a favor and tell him that there were no "American muscle cars" after 1971.

Why non mint? Is he on a budget or is he looking to import and sell? What condition? Shoppers with real money go to places like Pomona. There are tons of tire kickers and wannabes, but those with a briefcase full of cash get some good deals.
Like an auction, you have to know when to walk away. Lots of undecided sellers too. It a place where 2 serious players can meet and make a deal. |

Point! Kinda galls me when some call my Mustang a "muscle car" instead of a Pony Car...but I've given up trying to correct them. It's a universal thing these days.

Stop in a local gas station. Grab a bunch of the free Cars For Sale rags.
There was a nice 69ish Chevelle shell in Grapevine. Used to pass every day wondering if it was for sale then one day it was gone. There is also a dealer on Texan Trail that has some presentable older iron fairly regularly.

My parents DD's were Chevy/GM V8's, drop in power (for same displacement) from late 60's to early 70's was remarkable. Subjective but styling also went down the toilet in the 70's IMHO. YMMV

Yup, all parties in the HP wars threw in the towel, hoisted the white flag and grabbed their ankles in 1971. While simultaneously hanging larger and heavier bumpers and other safety equipment on their cars. It was over. If not for the EPA and safety regs, the insurance industry was able to deep-six cars like Hemi Cudas and 440 6-packs on their own. It was OVER.
Anyone who thinks that any 1975 car is a muscle car needs a friend to put a hand on his shoulder and explain the facts of life to him. What's wrong with people over there?

If I was in Aus looking for muscle, I would be searching for a Ford Falcon XB, a Holden, or one of the old fastback Chargers with the Hemi 6's.
I would love to get an Aussie Falcon.

He is here till next week then he goes back. If anyone is interested at finding him cars and checking them out he will pay a finders fee as well as an inspection fee. Might be a good way to earn some side-cash for someone who knows about such things. If your interested just PM me and I shall introduce you...

Tell your friend that I have a mechanical ground up resto on a 69 Mach1 428SCJ with Marti Report..rare in triple black...car is bilt to the hilt...60 hours was spent on Porting the heads alone...4 wheel discs, Global West comp suspension even the steering box was blued printed so there is no slop in the steering...$75K OBO.
Car still has the CA Black Plate that it was issued with in 69.

Yeah, a 1974 Trans Am 455SD is a real muscle car, no denying it
There are a few exceptions like this, but generally speaking, Denis is right
