Test at Willow Springs
Pretty good test at Willow Springs. Got down to the low 1:30's.
I broke a clutch on my 5th session, probably could have broken into the high 1:20's. Very fun car to drive, easier than the porsche except for the brakes. How did you destroy the clutch?
If you ever need a second driver I could teach you to syncro shift it. don't need no stinkin clutch...unless it's a howler trans. |

I had a 1966 Fairlane GT 390 that would snap the fingers off of a pressure plate every 3-4 months.
@ 19 years old I learned to drive it home clutchless. Once from your neck of the woods to Lakewood. I could drop the toploader out and swap the pressure plate out in about 3 hours by myself with out a tranny jack. I kept a spare pressure plate at home. I could never figure out what was the problem. New Ford, McCloud it didn't matter. ended up with two McClouds . Red would rebuild them for free for me. 20 years latter he custom built one for my mustang. |
Good on ya for getting those kind of times first time out. How'd the tires feel on the out lap?

Well, I could be a smart ass and say if 126 drove as a left foot braker, he could drag the brakes. But, he has this car and I don't have sch!t. But, yeah, if it has full on racing pads on it and the sessions at this time are like 15 laps, the next level of pads might be a good thing.
One thing about Willow is that when the weather cools down for Fall, it is pretty cold out there for the morning warm up. I could see changing pads mid morning if they are compatible. |
