Foil Bag failure
What's the trick to opening a foil bag of coffee without making a complete mess of it? I cannot open these without the foil failing causing large tears and holes.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/suppo.../coffeecup.gif

Scissors?
|
We keep the big plastic containers of coffee, when we use a foil bag or vacuum packed brick, we just put it in the container and use scissors to open it, then dump it all in.

I have always used a sharp knife or scissors.
|
Pray before opening.
|
Buy whole bean coffee :p
|
Place the basket with filter on its side on the floor. Place the foil bag on the floor about 10 inches from the basket. Stomp forcefully on the bag - all the coffee should go straight into the filter.
Or try scissors. |
Katana!
|
Hold bag above filter. Drill 3/8" hole in bottom of bag.

My buddy asked me why I never accept a cup of joe from him....instant. Makes me puke a bit in my mouth just thinking of it. |
I use a large chef's knife to open the package.
The secret is to channel your rage and make aggressive stabs throughout the torso of the old bag. |
When vacuum sealed bag is finally compromised (opened), do NOT inhale ANY of the escaping vacuum, no matter HOW convincingly it smells like ground coffee!
Unless you are an airhead, in which case you may experience transient increases in mental acuity for short periods of time. Prolonged breathing of vacuum can, however, be fatal, or may even lead to death. |

Most pouches of coffee have a little nick in the top or bottom where the bag is crimped.
Find the nick, tear open gently. That's the secret. |

Find the originator of the "Great Pelican shootout" thread, or get the big haired blond broad who crushes beer cans with her chest?
