?? re Art authenticity
What does: this work is original in conception and authorship really means when stamped on a piece of art by a reknowned museum?
Is it an authentic piece or not. Language clearly written by lawyer. |
I haven't seen that yet but I would guess they're covering their butts.
Lots of crooks in the art world. |
Agree Peter. But they make it so obscure.

I used to talk to a guy named Julian at Abels who was an BH Interior Decorator. Anyway one day while previewing a Sunday sale he showed me two pieces of art done by two different artists. Both were consigned by the same person, both had a brief Bio of the artist on the back and BOTH USED THE SAME PALLET OF COLOURS...HMMMM...now what does this tell ya...Julian said, "FAKE." It seems that consignor always was putting a couple fo pieces into the Sunday auction.
I just happened to be sitting next to the winning bidder during that auction. Right before that piece of art came up for sale I told the other person sitting next to me that the piece was a "FAKE." Yet the winning bidder went ahead and paid $7000 for that piece of art. Amazing.... Generally on the lower end of the spectrum you don't have to worry too much about fakery. |
So, what do you make out of this? Fake or not?

In case of deasscention the museum is guarnteeing that the piece is REAL. If MOMA says it is real that is about as good as it gets. Unless of course you see the artist paint it.

Thank you sir.

Unless the sticker and stamps are fake.
It would be easier to forge that than a bank check, and they are forged daily. ;) I'd email the photo to MOMO to make sure it's theirs, and what it means. |
