Not just me, but his boss and the rest of his crew. No one said anything to me but I just notice the stops when ever he walks by windows and looking at himself or fixing his hair when he goes out to the truck. Its hard not to notice when someone bends over to the side mirror of a pick up to fix or check their hair. Don't get me wrong, I like the kid and he is very respectable. No concern about the gay part. he is not and we do lots of work for gays in West Hollywood. Making the girls not comfortable is huge for us. All the guys on the crew know better about staring at women on my jobs. I actuallly do not do that at all, Lets just say I do notice them. Really I don't care what he does, but a little odd that's all. I was sitting outside people watching and notice him looking at himself in the truck mirror. His boss and I have known each other and have done so many jobs together over the past 15 years actually said to me, he checks himself every 15 minutes, with a smile, and said "What do you do"? I hope I did not hit a soft spot of your. That was not my intention but just want to know what you guys think or suggest. not good for Rick if work must be cranked out or doing that in front of his clients(not us, we don't care how many time his guys checkout themselves).

I always considered someone who constantly looks at themselves in the mirror, thinks they are the best looking guy in the room, delusions of importance, etc., as being narcissistic.

This describes my BIL perfectly, in reality is he's a loser. My wife won't even speak to him anymore.

Personally, I like it if a guy cares somewhat about what he looks like. Even women for that matter. Doesn't matter gender. I just feel like people who take pride in their appearance, in most circumstances, care about their appearances in other matters. Which is a good thing. They usually are very punctual because they don't want to look bad. They usually are very fit and healthy because they care about their looks. Men who care about their looks somewhat usually appreciate it if their woman looks good and take notice and say it. I like that. There is a delicate balance though. Just like women can become high maintenance, a man can become a pretty boy.

At my job I wear shorts and a t-shirt all summer. In the winter I get all dressed up in old jeans and a t-shirt. On hundreds of occasions I have been in the middle of a project and discovered I need one more part. I have no problem washing my hands and going to the the store in very dirty clothes, with a sweaty sweatband on my forehead. As long as my backside is clean enough not to get my car dirty I just go as is.

My pretty boy days were when I actually changed out of my crappy work clothes when I needed something mid-project. Now if I won't get the car dirty I don't bother. It's a good way to get interesting looks in Sears, which is part of a shopping mall.:)

Living in Orygun for such a long time has enabled me to dress in a wool-shirt, jeans or whipcord wool pants, & caulks (or "corks" which is whatever they call them up here) or Birks & bike shorts (for the entire week of summer) 98% of the time I go somewhere, no matter where it is. My wife has given up on trying to get me to wear anything else like a suit for a wedding or to appear in court. Once I've schit in the woods, (we don't shave up here - men nor women), & let the rain shower me off & let the rain "comb" my hair, I never do anything else for myself for the rest of the day - unless we go somewhere late in the day which might necessitate a hair touch up with my double blade axe. Just a grooming safety tip: do not use a chain saw for shaving even if you is a chain saw artist - stay with yer axe and keep it sharp.

I am not sure if I can agree with you completely. If you have ever been in West Hollywood, you just describe about 90 % of the residents there. My wife once said, "Damn, they are all soo good looking". You say care about themselves? What man plugs their eyebrows? When I dated my wife, she wanted to do that. She couldn't stand them becausse they are not cut the grass on my lawn, nice and neat. Screw that, no thanks. But, I do shave my legs. Bad or is it a good habit from my cycling racing days. I could care less what people think of my legs or how they look.

Yeah, really and we still look damn good without trying to look good:) just like Doug. :)

Read my last sentence, Look. I don't like it when a man becomes too much of a pretty boy where it becomes an obsession. Remember you are talking to a woman who likes to look good but doesn't mind getting dirty tinkering around with a car. :)

Flieger 08-29-2012 11:01 AM

Whoa, whoa whoa. Dude, I cylce a lot but I don't shave my legs. :)

Boy Randy, Birks and bike shorts (I assume the tight colorful ones) is a great combo. Is that with socks or no sicks? That is down right sexy. You must have to beat the women off with they baseball bat during the summer time.

I am just messing w/ ya.

Look, :)

And Max, ewwwwwww on the birks and socks. And shaving isn't necessarily a bad thing. Just sayin'. If your woman likes smooth skin to see and feel all your muscles... Well... Ummm... I think it would be to your benefit to shave. ;) If not and your woman likes the hairy types, then carry on! :)

Tobra 08-29-2012 11:49 AM

I read through this thread, and all I have to say is, what was the question again?

Oh yeah, my wife cares about how I look; me, not so much. I dress nice to go to the office and comb my hair, because people expect a professional to look the part.

Manly cyclists with shaved legs are simply DELECTIBLE!!! If you are a guy, and you ride regularly, do all of leg freaks a favor and shave those fabulous things! I realize I sound like a complete pervert, but well toned man legs that are shaved with a tan are absolutely fabulous! FABULOUS! :D

Now on the topic of pretty boys who must constantly affirm themselves in the mirror, etc. When I was in college, I lived in a cul-de-sac where all the residences were multi-plex units loaded with 18 to late 20 year olds. We'd frequently hang out and have a BBQ in the street, or go out dancing as a group. One of the guys was probably late 20's, married, and definately not gay. He was a stripper and spent more time looking at himself and primping than a gaggle of 9th grade girls. This guy made the group late ALL the time because he was fussing with his hair, putting on makeup (just to - you know, even out the skin tone), applying lotion, etc. Impossible for him to pass a mirror without a thorough self-exam, front, back, both sides. it was crazy.

Well dressed, or at least well groomed - two thumbs way up. Fussy, vain and high maintenance? PASS. :p

No way I'm shaving my legs, this pretty boy has to draw the line somewhere.

That is actually a picture of socks that have a sandal print on them that I found on the random pictures thread.

Well, whatever the girls want but I've got too many scars (road rash, pedal nicks, etc.) for my legs to be considered "pretty". But chicks dig scars, right? ;):D
