what about a 2003 Mercedes Cl500?
Friends car... wife wants it. It is immaculate. He has had fixed, shifter lock-out, trunk not opening, air suspension, 5000$ in wheels and tires... black black and black. What's it worth and what can and will go wrong... edit : 58,000 miles

Funny I was just looking into these the other day, love the looks of them! Seems like the 05-06 is the way to go, fixed several problems in he early versions. ABC air suspension has its problems and is VERY expensive to fix. Does this one have the 5 speed tranny or 7? I have read the 7 gets much better gas mileage but almost everyone hates them, but that is their personal opinion, haven't heard much mechanically going wrong, just that it can never decide on which gear to be in.
From everything I have read, the CL's of that era are extremely expensive cars getting up there in age so when things go wrong, it can take deep pockets. That being said, I have read great things about the engine/tranny being very reliable, its all the little things (and some big) that can drain your wallet quick. I will say that of all the people who have had problems, almost all of them say its worth it because they are amazing car$. ![]()
