Looking to tow a 911 from wichita ks to toronto canada on a dolly. Will take it slow but does any one know the drive? Hills , mountains just not sure . also should I remove the rear half shafts as it will be the rear wheels on the ground . (damage to front) thanks .

Trans in neutral. Don't disconnect anything. Towing with a truck?

No mountains between the two points. Some hills, but nothing to worry about.

I think this is a problem....

Someone else can chime in. I recall this being on the 'not a good idea' list, no? Something about tranny lubrication?

915 tranny?

I've never towed with a dolly - always with one of those car trailer things you drive up onto. FAR safer and better. Probably saved my 911 when it got rear-ended while I was towing it. YMMV - but you may want to look into it.

I've towed 2 different 911's on a dolly facing forward over Mountain passes with a Toyota Pickup.....No a problem....

I bought my '69 911T from a guy that had towed it for years behind his motorhome with all 4 wheels on the ground.......

I've yet hear hear any forum story of anyone with direct experience of a problem; only opinions......

Its one of those cases that not because you can you should IMO
If you're towing with a truck might as well get the full platform for a few more bucks (read Uhaul)..

There is no point in hurting/torturing the car... I mean its a Porsche! ;)

Dolly tows....Las Vegas to Home, Dallas to home, Tennesse to home. All no problem except for a flat tire on one car.

Just rent a trailer if you can, dollies suck and you must have mystic ninja-like skilz if you have to back up. I dollied an escort from here to Larium Mich. no problems but did get in a fuel situation once and had to pull into a pump I had to back out of. Wasn't too fun.
If you use the dolly, stop after about the first twenty miles and tighten up the straps. The car will settle some. Do it again in the second twenty miles, so on and so fourth until the car is solid.
Dollies suck
