How to keep people from overdosing.

Make all medications in suppository form.

I have been sicker for the past 4 days than I can remember. Finally turning the corner to feeling better. High fever and vomiting. Phenergan suppositories, you are my new love.

Funny thing is that that route's actually an easy way to OD.

Butt can't vomit _and_ it absorbs some things really well. Stay clear of the tequila enema!

I'm sure there's a CRACK joke in here somewhere :)

Hope you feel better....

Suppositories are good for parents w/ infants who dont swallow pills or liquids well.

This is actually true.

And it is also one of the best ways to give IV fluids for a novice. You just run the tube up the butt...this was talked about as a life saver in Afghanistan.

Butt I poo back there!

Joeaksa 09-06-2012 02:13 PM

This thread has great potential to go downhill very rapidly....

Fluids tend to reach their equilibrium at the lowest point.

I think it was Bear Grylls that had an episode in the desert where he couldn't get any clean water, so he shoved a tube up his butt and poured in some muddy water to get some hydration. Not sure how safe that really is.

It's plausible. The intestines are good filters. But, disease could be introduced through the rectum, By disease, I mean all of it, parasites to poison. Better than being dead.

I was speaking where someone is shot and needs IV fluids. Instead of IV, the soldier is hooked up , uhhh, backwards...

I believe the Brits have been doing it since WWI..... fast, effective, minimal training and precision necessary.......

That's the very reason for Phenergan in suppository form. It's an anti-nausea med.

Think about it.

Worked great for my first wife during post-chemo nausea.

on2wheels52 09-07-2012 12:58 AM

"Doc, you have to put me some different medicine. It tastes horrible. And for all the good it did me I may as well have shoved it up my a**"

Suppository joke

Got a bottle of something similar after my wife's knee surgery. Doc said to keep them around in the back of the fridge for her rare can't-keep-anything-down-want-to-die migraines.

Could that "ingestion" route be a growth market for the tobacco companies? Like chew without the spit cup!

lane912 09-07-2012 10:29 AM

^^^^
my grandfather never spit and cewed tobacco every day-

not my habit-

The story of Dougal and Lynn Robertson. While stranded at sea for 38 days with only small amounts of rainwater to drink, they gave brackish-water enemas to themselves and others on their life raft on the theory that their rectums would filter out the salt and absorb enough water to keep them alive.
More here
This story was the motivation of Bear Gryll's famous enima episode. Taking one for the Queen he called it.
