This is (was) the different route. The existing one is much more twisty and Porsche appropriate.

yes, except that it was clogged with traffic all the time, hence the desire for a new highway

but either the contractor or the state ODOT forgot that the Coast Range is prone to landslides

ODOT sued the contractor and now they are blowing up the bridge piers and planning some deviations from the new route

very expensive hwy!

In Iowa we do it differently.
Spend three months cutting square holes and filling them with concrete for eight miles. Two weeks later rip the same eight miles up and start from scratch.

Could not believe it.
