Met my first Pelican!!! Woo Hoo!!!

Yep, loaded up the family and took a road trip out to Louisiana to meet up with Johnco!!! Let me tell you a little bit about John... This guy is about as down to earth as someone can get... Probably one of the nicest guys you would ever meet... Also met his family and they were super nice as well... By the time John got done with me, I had the trailer loaded up with a 944, a couple engines and get this, two sofa's lol... And to top that off, he really got me thinking about building a rat rod... super cool they are... Wish I could have stayed longer because John is one of those guys that I could sit down and talk to for hours, but we had to get on the road... A big thanks to you John for your hospitality and your generosity!!!SmileWavy

Here's a pic of the new project... As you can see Ricky approves!!!

Sweet! I need to swing down his way on one of my LA work trips.... Found out I was in his town the other day and didn't know it...

John's a cool guy to hook up with... I didn't get a chance to ride in his rat rod, but maybe next time...

Should have hollered when you passed through Htown man. There's a bunch of us here....

Wish I could have, I was driving straight through so as it was, I didn't get home till about 3:30am

okay now... you're ruining my "badazz" reputation. or was that "azzhole"reputation? I forget. we'll have to cook you some good cajun food when you come down for the mustang. none of that "cajun restaurant" crap. and bring a truck and a bigger trailer.. I have more stuff I need to get rid of you might want.. ir was nice meeting you and your family also. I can't get my mother to ride with me even around the block. can't believe your 83 yr old mom wanted to take the 24+hr roundtrip drive in 2 days. 1000+miles, 6 people in a packed Tahoe? tough old girl.. she great... doubt I'll make it but If I'm still around at that age I'll be wearing diapers, tranquilized and strapped to a bed.

Have to say that it took about all the restraint that I have several weeks ago when Johnco mentioned "I have a "Thing" that I am not using, anyone want it plus loads of spares"....

If you are getting real "coon azz" food from a local, you might not make that return trip! Love it down there but cannot put up with the humidity...

Very cool! I have always had a great time with the Pelicans I have met, great people...all!

Johnco is great. I spent some time with him a few years back when we were filming Deja Vu' in his hood.

Bill and I did some trading.. he got the 944, a couple vw pancake engines and a set of late model mustang 17" rims and tires for the 66 mustang he has to make another trip here to pick up . I got a metal detector, an old snap on tool box and a S&W 40cal.. traded stuff I didnt need or use for different stuff I dont't need or probably never use but takes up much much less space. my daughter has already claimed the detector and working on getting the S&W.. all I got left out of the deal is the old tool box. don't remember if we made a cash or trade deal for the stang but I hope he finds something a little more interesting to trade this time.

So... How was the watermelon rind and wild grape jelly?

craigster59 09-16-2012 06:48 AM

I think the most surprising thing about this thread is that Johnco didn't injure himself in some way helping you load that trailer ! :D

I dunno 'bout that...he could've dropped one of those engines on his foot, and I'm not sure he'd have noticed :D

actually..., I almost broke my ankle earlier that week and was in pain ever since. stepped out of my work trailer onto a 3" flexible exhaust pipe and it rolled, my foot went 90deg to one side and I hit the ground. that was monday. tuesday we went loaded up an 8x8 hot tub someone gave me and brought it to my daughter's house. having a hard time walking by then. had it x-rayed wed. and no breaks, just bad sprain.. turned down offer of pain script, nothing I can't handle I foolishly said. thursday I go to work, tell my daughter I had a dream that I would hurt my self again 10 minutes before I step on a pump hose and down I go again. time for crutches now. used crutches for half the day. by the time Bill got here I was still limping when we pushed the 944 up the trailer, loaded engines and sofas. ankle swollen still. wish I had that got that pain script 1 or 2 of those days. Bill, Morgan picked up the grape and watermelon somewhere and completly forgot about them. I'll asked her for them when I see her.

Dang John, I was just tryin' to be funny...you didn't have to endure all that just to prove me right :)

johnco 09-16-2012 03:46 PM

my ankle is still swollen, I'm still limping and I'm still in pain.. maybe I'll break or cut something on the left side to take my mind off of the right side pain
