What Model Mercedes

A friend of mine had this pic taken of him in 1970, while he was a bodyguard in Germany. The pic is somewhat out of proportion; however, hopefully someone will recognize the model. What model is it? Anyone have more pics of the same model? Any details greatly appreciated.

Thanks;

Richard

The C112:

I didn't know about the C111 and I'd forgotten (if I really did remember) the C112.
Fook oh damn, what a machine!

Mercedes Benz brought one of the C111 cars to the 1971 Los Angeles Auto Expo. I saw it at that show, and as a 12 year old kid I was simply blown away. The only two cars I remember from the show are the C111 and the Lancia Stratos prototype.

Yep, C111. They made several in two-rotor versions and maybe one or two with three-rotor engines, if memory serves. I actually got a ride in one of them around the M-Bz test track in Unterturkheim in the early '70s - don't remember for sure, maybe '73. Amazing cars.

That's an easy one. As others have said, it's the C111.
