Toys not made in China....

It's that time of year again. Try to find toys not made in China. One list had Little Tikes on it. Went to Target. Found they are now made in China. Also found MATCHBOX TOYS ARE NOT MADE IN CHINA! Hooray! They are made in Thailand. OK, not the US or even North America, but better than China. Bought a few MATCHBOX TOYS for Toys for tots.

Why not make your own wooden toys?

I did just that for mine when they were young and they loved them. Of course you may have to buy tools which will probably be made in China. But you can still get tools made in the USA, Canada or Great Britain if you're prepared to spend a bit more money.

FYI... Some Lego is now US made.

be careful about buying those "craft, handmade" toys. Many of them were actually made in a factory in China or elsewhere and could have lead paint. There are still true artisans in The States (and elsewhere) but not always. We went to Nashville, Indiana a few months ago. It is a noted artists colony and has a great shopping district. The draw is local artists and artisans making products in Central Indiana and making them available for sale. About 50% or more of the shops we went into many of the items had stickers showing them to be mass produced in China or India or elsewhere.

Do not trust an artisan who has no calluses on their hands! Trust a cow not a chemist.

Bruder has some great toys. Made in Germany (at least I hope they still are), and sold at Target.

i get wooden cars and trucks from a guy on etsy.com. that way when my kid chews on it, i don't have to wonder if he's getting lead poisoning or something worse.
