Walter Ulbricht Beard for all Americans?
 

I am curious. Why is it that almost every 50 ish American male wants to look exactly like the former Cummunist East German leader, and Berlin Wall builder, Walter Ulbricht? Nowadays everybody seems to wear the same beard, just added the baseball cap.

This type of beard is not as common as it used to be 5-10 years ago IMHO. It seems to hold strong with shaved heads. What I see a lot of young guys with now is full beards. I also see handlebar mustaches - on bicycle guys and non-bicycle guys (in their 20s).

I only have two modes of facial hair: Full beard or clean shaven with sideburns. Makes no sense to have a beard and have to shave your cheeks every day!

I don't know anyone who wants to look like that.

I know people who subscribe to his politics, even here on Pelican, but no one who wants to look like him.

Wasn't Mark McGwire doing that over 20 years ago?
