Didn't get the Ducati...but I got another Ninja! ZX_10R

I wanted something faster (want..not need) and fuel injected. I already have a Ducati. A 916-998 or 1098 would have been nice, but a good 916-998 is hard to find in the condition I want for a good price. The 1098+ are still too high in price IMO, and a BMW1000RR is really high in price still. I can't justify that range of pricing for the amount of times I'd ride...But when I ride I don't want a fussy carb'd bike (I have them and I'll keep them)...I must be getting older.

So instead of the 916-998 in this thread, I went for a ZX-10R, lots of power and fairly cheap on the used market.

I picked up a 2008 with 3,360 miles on it an in the color scheme I wanted. From what I know it is a 2009 color scheme, but somehow this 2008 has it. I haven't been able to find out how this happened. The bike was sold new in 2010 by a law student in Chicago, then sold to the guy I bought it from who rode it just this season (since May). I am guessing the dealer swapped out the body and tank but who cares. 2008-2010 they were the same.

This not the actual bike, but the factory photo (mine had a black passenger seat). I have only just done a quick test ride when I picked it up, then loaded it on the truck..came come..then went on a business trip. I hope to put some miles on it this weekend.

(In the meantime my 1993 ZX7 Ninja is for sale, new Diablo Corsa III tires, new change and sprocket, carbs cleaned in spring and jetted with FactoryPro justs...runs like a champ...$2900 OBO)

When the 2008's came out dyno numbers varied from 158-172 at the wheel...a few more ponies when it's moving from the ram air.

The Werkes race slip-on just arrived :) Loud..nah...

Nice '10. Hope you have an O2 supply for your trip into LEO the first time you whack the throttle open. :)

Got pics of the '93?

It's aged but never crashed. Been reliable for 20k miles.

I chopped the long rear fender/tail off last night with a Dremel.

I'm ready to kick some serious azz now.

I bought a powder coated fender eliminator bracket with signals and plate lights off eBay for $49 delivered. Saving the stock pieces for resale....well worth the money. Will post a picture.

Took the bike out on my test loop this morning and it is scary fast! Never have accelerated like that before. Have to be disciplined with this thing :)

Nice green bike. You need to take it to the track and wring its neck. I'm not a huge fan of Road America but on a 1K it gets interesting. 4 WFO straights and even on a stock-ish 1K it will want to loop over backwards coming up the hill at 160+ before start finish.

Except $49 is equivalent to $490 in the Ninjette world!

(Plus, no one in their right mind would put that stock fender back on. And if they did, it's $30 new at the dealer!).
