I have the Mossberg 500 tactical with the breacher barrel. Pull out the dowel and it's a six shooter.

Two words... Short and simple.
Pumps are great but the thought of one jamming just when you need it at the most is frightening and reloading one is not gracefully. If it was me... Cut down over and under. Keep the stock as is but "trim" the barrel so you can turn around in a narrow hallway with no issues. I'm old school

hate to say it........but once you grow up with a "CLUB" like an 870, you will always have a soft spot in yer heart for one. the versitility is amazing. in a matter of a few minutes i can go from full blown street sweeper to a 28" bird barrel configuration.
as mentioned parts out tha kazoo. but theres a secret to them and thats dropping it off with the guru of snotguns HANS VANG of VANGCOMP.com up in chino valley az. but i digress here, if i had to drop down do some ninja rolls to my safe to protect life liberty and the pursuit of happiness..............hands down i would grab either my HK/BENELLI or my BENELLI M-2 tactical semiauto. worlds fastest shotgun. 5rds in 3 seconds. and thats damn fast. minimal of recoil with the baddest load ya can hand me. truth be told the 870 HURTS when shot with full loads. the benellis DONT HURT!  this is a SLUG GROUP from 100yds! did my rems and my benellis at vang comp. he knows his poo! i think those were federal loads.

 ghost ring on M-2 benelli.i swear by benelli's. some of the most fun we have had is hot and heavy dove and quail, never ever had a feed or eject problem. and we have run cases of shells thru them! yeah yer gonna pay more, what can i say? my next one????????? 30" barrel SBE FULL CHOKE BENELLI................wanna choke on cost, look at them? my buddy has one and its like cheating on dove and quail.

I like the Benelli Nova over the 870, but the accessories will not be as plentiful.

Your overlooking the psychology effect a pump shotgun has in the dark.
 Rack shell sound and then "Stop or I'll shoot" is enough to cause most people to fill their pants....
