Got a guy who wants to trade me one for my Trans Am GTA..

Ask on Peachparts or Mercedesshop, lots of info there. It's certainly not the worst year, that would be the earlier w129 cars, (1990-95). They are OK, strong cars actually. They do nothing for me. Plenty of maintenance $$ can be spent on them.

convertible top hydraulics can get very pricey.....usually if one cylinder goes they all go.....and there is like 8-10 of them
seem nice though when sorted....

Great car in its day. I've always liked them.
Good old school MBs are the best and this was one of the last them.

SL320 is the least desirable engine in this R129 chassis. One thing that is nice is that from '95and on this car got the improved HVAC and controls over the 'pre '95 models. You can get a nice SL500 for $10K which is twice the car.

Tranny can go kaboom pretty easy. Also, that era benz has a tendency to like to turn on CEL a lot- later models are less sensitive.

Don't ask me how I know.
