Best forum for older Toyotas?
I have an old Toyota SR5 PU that I love. It's a 1980 longbed 2WD w/ the 20R 2.2 engine and 5-speed trans. I'm going to need to rebuild the engine and want to build a mildly upgraded mill, probably a slightly bored 22R block with a 20R head. That seems to be the usual ticket for hot-rodding these.
My problem is not that I can't find a Toyota forum, it's more like there are so many of them that I don't know where to go. Anyone know the one where the grownups hang out? TIA.

It's OK, not great, but Pelican is so good that all the other forums pale in comparison. :-)

When I was going through a '72 FJ55 last winter, I spent a lot of time on IH8MUD.com
It's Pelican for Toyota 4X4s. . . I know yours is 2WD, but still. . . I bet you could find what you need there and I found the tech articles and folks very helpful. Tom edit: I just clicked on craigster59's link above & it's right to IH8MUD.

Here is a good place for engine parts.
ENGNBLDR.COM, ENGINE PARTS NETWORK I think he focuses more on the 22r, but I bet he might be able to help on that 20r. |

You can call, if he isn't too busy, he will talk. I know, I stood there one day waiting for him to get off the phone! Super nice guy, and I didn't mind.

I think you can mildly turbo charge those to create some good power. |
