Weird, how that article mentions an open pit mine in the US, but doesn't mention anywhere that I-junk is made in fricking China.

Amazing how people hate wal-mart because they sell Chinese crap but love apple because they sell Chinese crap.

Ummm, I think there's a pretty big difference between cheap crap and cheap quality.

And the battery you can take out to really kill the thing.

I love my flip phone and the 8 day battery life. I also love saving $500 a year on not having a data plan. :)

What does this mean? You can buy iPhones at Wal-Mart. How is the Mobil 1 oil I buy at Wal-Mart any different (other than price) from that I buy at AutoZone? Does the Tropicana OJ taste different between retailers? Lots of non-Chinese-made quality stuff for sale at Wal-Mart. I'm able to afford an iPhone because I don't pay more than I need to for so many other things, whose quality is pretty uniform between retailers, but whose prices are not.

Good luck finding anything electronic that ISN'T made in China or one of the other asian tech centers. Singapore, Malaysia, Vietnam, China, Taiwan, etc seem to have a monopoly on that market. You hardly even see anything that is made in Japan anymore.

So, it's perfectly OK for wal-mart to see stuff that's made in China as long as it's made well, but if it's low cost and not made well then wal-mart is the devil.

BTW, last I heard the I-phone costs 2 to 3 times as much as it's competition.
Doesn't sound that cheap to me.

Where do you hear these things? Or do you just make them up?

Those are all prices for new two yr. contracts. I guess it depends on what Sammy considers to be the iPhone's competition. For my folks that'd be their ancient flip phones sans data plans.

Just comparing apples to apples. Which is what one does when comparing prices of the competition. No-contract prices for iPhone5 aren't out yet but likely will be around 4S prices which were comparable to no-contract prices for the current flagship Samsung and Moto phones.

There are plenty of things to not like about Apple but making things up about pricing is fairly asinine.

In defense of Apple, their products seem to work well (most of the time), iPhone data plans were much cheaper than others($20 vs. $50), and customer service is excellent.

The non cross-platform or customizable "World of Apple" is another subject.

Yeah, that's about right. I have many reasons to hate Walmart, but as long as they're going to be selling stuff, I would personally be happier if its good stuff. A lot of their stuff is just pure crap. IMHO, it makes our society more disposable. I'm guessing 70% of this country furnishes their homes with crap Walmart furniture. You OK with that?
