I'll mess with in the a.m. on my laptop. I take it you guys stayed out of trouble last night?
|
I chose not to post in detail about my hunting any more. I enjoy it too much to have some anti-hunter come to the thread and piss all over it. This is especially true in light of recent anti-hunting legislature being pushed down our throat in the PRK.
I'll keep my PPOT hunting buddies up to date via PM. :) G |
Learned that lesson late.

Can I have a steak.........puhleeze!

That pic does not do him justice. He was a touch under 1100 lbs on the hoof. Think the lady at the processor said the hanging carcass was 750, ready to butcher. Said there should be about 450 lbs of assorted meat goodness. My wife and 7 year old are asking pretty much daily when it will be here. We bought some steaks last month in Colorado and they are hooked.
Shot on a giant ranch in west Texas. |
west tex./??
i'm from west texas..i love bison meat!! 450 lbs is ALOT..all that rump meat would be hard to handle..i only like the front half of hooved creatures..(typically..there are exceptions) :D |
Nice meat, but might as well walk-up and use a machete aka apocalypse now.

Nice looking birds for a game farm. Normally the farm will cut the top half of the beak off so while in the flight pens they don't fight w/ each other. Either their pen is way big or they turn their birds quickly enough they don't need to worry about fighting. Someone's gonna be eatin good for awhile!!!
|
i did a bird farm once or twice.
the one we have local is interesting. first time a bird went up, i was like,,"wtf?" it was like watching a helium balloon float up. my two elderly partners would empty their guns..funny. i waited until they emptied and then simply plop the bird down. it dig get fun afterwards..after the day ended for most..we were allowed to sweep the other groups field for stragglers...i ran the pointers hard then. the birds were more "fast" the second time around. good eating! i would love to find a legit farm in my area. i understand they can be amazing!! |
i've been elk scouting 4 times now for my BULL ELK hunt since drawn. would have gone more but crazy busy at work.
came back yesterday from happy hunting grounds with wifey and had a hell of a lot of fun there. gawd been going there for a 1000yrs now and just checked water holes and cattle tanks for sign. lots of late summer rainwater in them. lots of poopy and tracks. rifle and archery ta-tonka here in az are a "draw only" and there are 2 places to hunt them rifle, rock house and raymond ranch. basically its NOT a hunt in the sense of looking for them. azgfd will make appt with you at either site and tell you which ones to be culled for a rifle hunt. for an archery hunt its different and you actually do get to hunt them on the north rim of grande canon/vermillion cliffs area. my buddy nailed one and it took 4 arrows and after each and every hit that damn ta-tonka wanted to stomp his azz into mince meat. they dont go down easy and they are MEAN AS HELL AND VERY DANGEROUS! outside zion utah , i watched the ranch bison kick the living hell out of each other up close and personal(other side of fence close)................THEY IZ NASTY BASTIDS! |
i'd kick in several $100 to watch someone tip over a buffalo. i just want some delicious meat. :D
