Stumlbed across a Nicleback song that does not suck.
 

While fumbling around for songs for my daily contribution to the "what are you listening to today" thread, I came across this. Maybe it is not really the songs that are so bad, just the execution?

I don't get it, with all the rap crap and autotune kiddies out there, why do people think they suck?

Agree. I think it's just become cool to think Nickleback sucks. Don't know why.

I like their earlier stuff, but I think a lot of the hate lately has to do with their relatively bland music and the image.

I figure the Nickleback sucks is a internet "cool" thing like the silly Chuck Norris bit. I don't own any Nickleback and I can't think of but a few songs of theirs, but there are FAR FAR worse bands.

my wife is a huge NB fan..pretty funny watching/listening to her sing along.

it doesnt offend my ears, but the music is very anthem-y..to me.

I agree that there are far , far worse groups , but Nickleback seems to get so much more radio play than the other awful groups , it just makes it hard not to hate them .
"everybody's got a drug dealer on speed dial " how many times do they say that in that dumb song?
I also found a nickle back CD in my lady's car , but she has is not really a music person, and I have always said that she has poor taste in Music.
Fwiw, I disliked them long before I discovered that it was "cool" to think Nickle back sucks .

Dont most bands songs sound exactly the same? I happen to like them. I think they have good song writing.

DMB is good musically. But hes one of the worst singers I've ever heard. that voice makes Fran Drescher sound good.

I think it's because a LOT of women really like their music. I was really surprised when I began hearing the haters come out. NB continues to nail their target audience and crank out huge hits. They're laughing all the way to the bank. Remember Hootie and the Blowfish? They're mostly quietly retired now ( save Rucker who's killing it in Country music ) and playing endless golf. They were hated a bit during their moonshot, too.

In spite of how much they are "hated", they are one of the top selling artists. Yep laughing all the way to the bank.

Nickleback even makes fun of themselves in one of their latest videos.

Hootie ranks right up there with Nickleback in my book as well.

Exactly. I never knew it was fashionable to think they suck until I read it on PPOT. But when I hear that annoying voice on the radio, it's like a cheese grater on my ears. Early Rush is like that to a lot of folks too. The unique vocals make you either love them or hate them. Well, I can't stand to listen to Nickelback. If they have any instrumentals, I'll give those a fair listen. The vocals, however, could force a confession out of me in a very short time.

This is very often the case. I go to a lot of songwriter shows where, IMHO, the writer's version of a song is much better than the radio hit that has been generated from it.

I never liked them before I even new who they where. The guys voice sounds like every bad bar cover band. Nothing more then that. Some people like that.

Funny thread. I rather like some NB songs - I have never purchased an album so I have no clue on their body of work. This appears to be like people who work in Hollywood who say "film" rather than "movie". Lot's musicians on this board yes?
