nothing much to more to report. getting real close to painting the front sub frame and want to try and do that this week. Then reaseal the engine and paint it up and reinstall the sub frame in the car then finish the rear of the car and start body work
|
Here is an update engine in, new water pump, intake and resealed the engine, painted headers and put a new oil pump in $=40 which makes me laugh considering what a gt3 pump costshttp://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1354748819.jpg

Looks great!
You may have mentioned this already but are you planning to tie the subframes together? I recall frame flex was a problem with these cars...especially convertibles. |

Oh by the way just fired it up for 20 seconds to make sure all is well. I hope to get it running and Idling by next week |
Ben, You do great work!!
|
Wow! I don't even fancy big 'muriccan cars but I know good job when I see one!
Any car that you put that amount of elbow grease will be a great car! Best wishes, looking forward for new pics. |
Lookin' good Ben!
|
Thanks guys it is a good amount of work and I have found I am much older then I think I am . I have been more sore in places I did not know existed after working on this car.
that said I really enjoy how simple it is thats why I think I want to keep it. though time may change that? |
awesome
Holy crap that thing has made a lot of progress since the last time I was out there.
Nice work Ben! |
Ben, that is some beautiful work!
Having restored a couple dozen cars over the years (mainly Mustangs), and now finally doing my first Porsche project, I am very impressed! Of course the $2500 in sheet metal doesn't account for the many hours of your time that adds up quickly. I just sold my 1966 Mustang fastback, 1967 Mustang convertible, 1966 Bronco, and Kirkham Cobra. I couldn't even finish the 1966 Mustang as I got burned out. Funny part was it only needed paint and reassembly, all the welding and body work was complete. I think I must be getting old also! Kepp up the great work and thanks for posting pictures! |
Still working on it. Slow going but making headway. Trunk is all done and sealed.
|
Wow your doing a terrific job on the restoration, it sure did have a lot of rusty parts, glad you have the skills to fix it right!
Goodluck on your project |
thanks I have worked hard on it. I have been watching auction prices lately and 67's are fetching good money but I really want to drive this car so I may finish it up over the summer and drive it and maybe keep it? who knows then some day find another 911 or a 914 for a 6 project.
|
Any updates Ben? This is a great thread. You do amazing work.. I just picked up a 69 Camaro and plan to start working on it when it warms up. Thanks for the motivation.

Looks like you been busy Ben.. Cant wait to see it in paint.. You should be ready just in time for a summer cruise.. Thanks for the Camaro link. I never seen it but I am sure to bookmark it and check it out.. I don't understand the "hardcore" chevy vs ford vs dodge guys either. I just have the passion for "Cars". I have a Mustang and a Camaro and I love them both.. Please keep updating your thread from time to time. I enjoy reading it :) |
its camaros.net
|
Well,
Got it running no leaks exhaust is on and welded. brakes bled. making head way |
My son and I took the old door skin off for passenger side today and started it for him today he was excited as it sounds really good.
|
Well Brakes bled (replaced 3 wheel cylinders and all rubber brake lines and M/C) . Wow drum brakes are quite a feel coming from 964 brakes.
Car shifts properly (TH350 Auto) tuesday may be able to take it down the drive way though with only 1 door and no seat but still move it out to clean the shop up. Making headway. |
its for sale
