67 camaro trade for 86 corvette?

My 67 camaro project is coming along though it is always for sale. I would like to get 15k for the car I have everything brand new, Bumpers, convertible top, interior all in boxes and the car runs and drives though it has no front clip on it because I am still doing body work(all brand new panels just blocking priming etc.

My neighbor in his early 70's is looking for a project. My car now is far enough along that it would be perfect for him to finish as time allows for him. He is fairly handy and has done many cars. He has a 67 mustang that he redid though the paint work is not nice the car is fairly nice. he also has an 86 corvette that he bought new has 80,000 miles on it and he has been trying to sell it for a couple of years for about 13k. I looked em up on ebay and see somewhat similar ones selling for about 8,500 or so. He said today he would be interested in my camaro for his corvette and about 5 grand.

if I could sell the corvette for 8500 I would be at break even but I know very very little about corvettes and dont really care for them. buuutt kind of interested in the sale of the camaro but can also finish it over time too. What do you guys think.

8500 sounds strong for the vette, at least around here. Very unremarkable car and lots of them on the market.

yeah I thought so too but it is also a complete running car requiring no work. Probably nuts should just keep what I have. I would be more interested in his mustang

Squeaky, anemic and leaky car. The dome lights go on when the body twists it's that flexible.

You'll never sell it once you get your hands on it. Beware- no one wants them.

Personally Ben I'd stick with the Camaro. Much more of a classic car. Weren't mid 80's Vettes total dogs?

Stick with the Camaro. An 80's Corvette is a unrivaled in its mediocrity.

Good line. I may use that in the future.

You need to re-fall in love with that Camaro.

How many gold chains come with the Corvette? There could be a deal in this somewhere.

Ben - you have a 67 Camaro Convertible. It is worth more money than the 86 Corvette right now, and will grow in value every year where the 86 Corvette continues a long slide. The 86 isn't as bad of a car as people are bagging it out here. It's a TPI engine with decent brakes and very good for the vintage handling (notice my qualifer there). But it is not worth any where near what a 67 Camaro convertible is worth. Until the 86 Corvette starts pooping gold coins out of it's exhaust system, that first year Camaro especially as a convertible, is and will always be more valuable.

I'm a Ford guy and would much rather have the Mustang also, but that Camaro done up like the one in the pics above would be very tempting especially since it is the rarer 67 first model year. Your car is worth $15,000 as a project right now, and probably over $30,000 completed nicely, where that Korvette might not be worth the $8500, and will certainly not appreciate in value any time soon. KEEP THE CAMARO, and finish it how you want it.

I thought in 86 they came with two gold chains, one mustache, and some chest hair.
