"Outliers" by Malcom Gladwell just picked it up yesterday

Head416 01-14-2014 07:38 PM

Just read Outliers last month, outstanding!

Currently reading Banana: the fate of the fruit that changed the world. I would recommend it, not 5 stars, but good.

Working on our fourth year of marriage, this is a really good book if you don't mind the Christian content.

The Girls of Atomic City: The Untold Story of the Women Who Help Win WWII

http://www.amazon.com/Girls-Atomic-City-Untold-Helped-ebook/dp/B008J4GTU4/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1389818602&sr=8-1&keywords=the+women+of+atomic+city

Did you know the city of Oak Ridge, TN was created as a community to process the materials for the Manhattan Project? Neither did I.

The Author of this book interviewed women who moved there without knowing where "there" was on the chance that they could help with the war and make some good money. With a mix of what life was like and the science behind "The Project," this book tells an interesting side of things.

Highly suggest this book. It covers History, science and human interest.

I hate non-fiction, but read it because it's "Good For Me (tm)." A friend recommended This Kind of War, and I have to say it's excellent. Detailed, accurate, personable, and well-written history of the Korean War, from the whole debacle about how we picked the 38th parallel to ... well, I haven't finished yet, but I'm assuming until the "end," wherever that is.

I REALLY liked that book. I'd love to hear what you thought of it.

Hey David

I found it to be a very interesting & enjoyable read also - & as you seem to me to be like-minded, I would recommend (if you can find a copy - 1985 publ. date) of Spitfire - A Test Pilot's Story by Jeffrey Quill.

Cheers
JB
