Today's little adventure: playing with 962's

One of our fellow Pelican's, Jim Richard has been fixing up a retirement place here on the West Coast and I had suggested awhile back that we get together. I enjoy meeting Pelican's. He's a bit down South from me and with gas prices through the roof at the moment, driving what would probably have amounted to 5 hours round trip, wasn't very appealing. Especially since we would only have a few hours together. While looking at a map of where he was, I noticed that a certain warehouse was about halfway between us. I suggested that we meet at Pelican Parts, take a look at the new facilities and maybe see some certain cars. I got a hold of Wayne and he was cool with us coming down (or up). Unfortunately, he was not around today - would have been nice to see you again, Wayne! The very capable, Scott, took us around instead. Clean place and a lot bigger than the old warehouse.
After a quick tour of the warehouse, we were blindfolded, gagged and tossed into a black van and driven to a secure location. Once inside and released, we got to see these: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1349934944.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1349934959.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1349934973.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1349934985.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1349935013.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1349935053.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1349935070.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1349935091.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1349935105.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1349915086.jpg Thank you once again, Wayne! Scott, you as well! Thank you for taking a small piece of your day and showing us around. Very much appreciated! I didn't realize I was such the PP celebrity. |

Unreal! Thanks for the story & photos Dave. I agree kudos to Scott and Wayne for maintaining some of our racing heritage...those are some amazing race cars!
Nice assortment of angles and closeups - never tire of gawking at these machines! Hey Dave - wouldn't mind seeing a shot of the black tub if you have one you could post as well. Thanks, Baz |

Never thought of this before - what's Wayne's daily driver?

FYI: If I can't get a better pic of that black tub - a larger pic of your Avatar wouldn't be a bad second choice Jim...after all....it IS Oktoberfest... :)

Jim, I thought you were going to retire to Portland!

It is good to see our PP bucks spent go to a good cause! (Wayne could be into yachts or golf ... )

So what is the current tally on Wayne's stable? I remember the first black 959, and then was stunned by the first (Yoko?) 962. But I see 4? or 5? 962's in those pictures, and 2 935's. Is that right? What else? Holy cats, that has turned into quite the collection!!
