Any expereince with a 07 BMW 525xi?

Found one locally at a dealer with 36k miles asking $24k. Nice car but concerned with BMW reliability and repair costs.

Drove one I was interested in buying......For my taste, I preferred the smaller, lighter 325/328 for an AWD Snow car..Seemed a little heavy and sluggish

I didn't like the "I-drive", wife didn't think the back seat had enough room with the front seats pushed back. Internet stories about repairs concerned me......Glad we passed.......

We had an '03 325Xi that our son took over until this year. Very, very solid, but maybe under powered car. My best friend has an '06 530Xi with 150k miles and just routine maintenance. Finally we now have an '07 530I. 67k miles, it needs a couple rear suspension brushing but otherwise great.

But, IMO, the smaller six is not enough motor in the 5 series chassis. On that combo I would pass.

I have a friend who got one on a fantastic subsidized lease deal. He loves it. Love might not be strong enough of a word. He adores the car. He went out and bought every piece of BMW gear available and now he walks around like Joey wearing Porsche stuff on Friends, except with BMW. Anyway, the car has worked out well for him. He'll get another when his lease expires.

Sounds like this one might have come from the same lease special. For a short time they were running a special where the monthly cost was something like $300 a month. It was incredible.

I realize the market LOVES old cars with low miles. They happily pay a huge premium for them.

The reality is that used BMW 5 series lease returns are out there in huge volume. And it's still true that the market rewards low mileage.

So, would you rather buy a 2010 BMW 528XI with 48K miles for $24K? (High side of "normal miles" for year, remaining warranty)
Or a 2007 BMW 525XI with 36K miles for $24K? (Radically low miles for year, no remaining warranty)

Let me know if you want a 2010, there are hundreds of them out there......with very low miles (10-15K) and very high miles (85-90K), from $19K to $32K your price

Here's a 2010 BMW 528XI with 47K miles, no accidents, Comfort, Premium, Cold Weather w/ heated seats and steering wheel, Comfort Access with pushbutton start, etc, etc. This one is $24,925 total Pelican price. Under warranty until Nov 2013.

The one Eric posted also is the new (current) body style with all the updated options and technology. The newer ones are worth moving into. They're a serious step up from the previous model, nice as though they are. If they're about the same price and the only difference is more miles on the newer one, it's a no-brainer to go newer.
