Engine is a 350 small block and trans is turbo350, diff is chevy also. Front end
is Tacoma power rack (steering) with power disc brakes (Tacoma also). Not a
Porsche but it draws more thumbs up and everyone seems to like it as I do.

I bet it's fun to drive. So are you going to paint it?

I vote for a matt finish. You could even use Rustoline or POR 15 + one of their matt top coats. I wouldn't even spray it. Foam rollers and elbo grease. ;)

Well, leaning towards no paint. Since those pics, I've dry sanded most of the
surface rust off places like engine lid and fenders and running boards and added more of the green etching primer like the roof has. So it's not really rusting that much now that I dry cleaned it. We'll see how it goes. If interested here's how I came by this car. I always wanted a street rod since seeing the "Shaggy Dog" movie from the 50's or 60's. There was a high boy hot rod in that movie (famous now) but I never had the mechanical ability to build one. Looked at lots of poorly done junk over the years. Just recently my grandfather-in-law (he and I share a grandson..my daughter/his son) came to me with this and offered it to me. He builds 2 or 3 a year and they are all great drivers and all similar.

I couldn't pass it up, and I love this car especially since the builder and I are connected somewhat. I gave him the Weld wheels to keep and added the
torque thrust D's and the Lecarra steering and called it finished. I've run it about 500 miles so far and love how it drives. Thanks for your interest.

For that finishing touch, a violin case for the back window. ;)

Sorry, I forgot to mention this is a ' 29 Chevrolet, for all you guys who thought it was an early, real early Porsche and probably shouldn't even be on this forum but it makes a nice bookend for a Porsche . It shares garage with my '86 carrera, they seem to get on pretty well. Thks for looking.

Last rod I rode in, there was an intense vibration that pretty much seemed to be rising and falling with the RPM's. I asked the owner about it and he said it is the custom of many builders to just bolt the engine to the frame without the benefit of traditional motor mounts with rubber to isolate the vibration from the rest of the car.

I thought that was very strange. I don't claim to know much about rodding, but is this true?

It was extremely annoying. I couldn't imagine taking that thing on a two hour trip.

It's got proper motor mounts and runs perfectly smooth. I've been in the type you spoke of and they are no fun. That is the kind of rod I was avoiding and this
one is a good runner, no rattles or clunks. Looks rough, but runs real nice. Tks for looking.
