When I was stationed at Camp Pendleton, I used to visit DRMO and see the items that air delivery "dropped". It wasn't pretty...

I imagine a certain percentage is written off as a casualty from the start.

What's not so funny is the cost of each of those mishaps.
But it was kinda funny to see the vehicles break free of the landing platform upon impact of those low level drops...and then to see the driver-less vehicle bounding along the ground at high speed, willy nilly. Or the chute that finally opened...5 feet off the ground. Ouch, that one musta hurt. |
Hell of a Head ache to have one land on you in the middle of the night !
