Enough with the cheap shots

WTF is with some people here, it seems that in almost every thread there is someone who just has to take a pot shot at someone else. I for one am getting a little more than tired of it.
People have different ideas and beliefs, they are no more right or wrong than the next persons. We are supposedly grown ups here, but the longer I stay here the less I am believing it.
You poopy heads know who I am talking about, you know the other poopy heads.

Agreed. It's no longer a comfortable, accepting environment.
Now we're quite focused on our differences rather than our commonalities, or the differences that make us interesting to each other.

I feel bullied!!! *sob*

craigster59 10-18-2012 10:48 AM

It seems to happen every election year. The political crap bleeds over into even the most mundane of threads and people seem to just generally be on edge due to all the negativity we are bombarded with at this time.

Come the holidays, things will cheer up, the election will be over and all will be good again.

The only cheap shots someone will get from me is a bottle of Gusano Rojo in the PPOT gift exchange.

Along the same lines....

When did it become acceptable for one member to feel the need to act like a moderator, send messages to members, or publicly out members for things like multiple user names?

imcarthur 10-18-2012 07:41 PM

Election year. 'nough said. You Americans always go snaky in election years.

Which is why I've been a bit scarce the last few weeks. I have to hear from enough nut jobs at work, I try to avoid them here....

I have sent messages to other members when I felt they had posted something that was hurtful without thinking about their words.
That's what a friend would do to give a friend who was being an @$$ a chance to back up and reconsider the consequences of their actions.

Was it appreciated? Sometimes.

I do tend to be disappointed from time to time at the acrimony which has become prevalent in OT and find myself wishing some people would re-read what they had just typed, give it five minutes then delete their response.

I live in hope.

Best
Les

I have done the same Les. As much as I disagreed with Norm, I corresponded with him via PM shortly before he went off the deep end and got banned.

As for my "outing" Randy about the multiple screen names, I was curious about it violating the rules of the forum. Why is it such a big deal to you that I did that?

Tell the truth, you were not really that surprised.

It does seem to get worse as Presidential elections approach, then tails off.
