12 volt winch for car trailer
What brand and line pull are you guys using on your car trailers ? My 2000 lb. Harbor Freight took a crap today and I have to replace it. I'm thinking anything in the 2000 - 4000 lb. range would be good. What brands are you using ? And where are you buying them ? Obviously when the cars are running I drive them up onto the trailer, but when they are not need the winch.

I have a Dayton from Grainger. It's rated for 3000 lbs and has a long lead for the control. It works very well.
DAYTON Electric Winch, 4.3 fpm, 3000 lb., 12VDC - Electric Winches - 6X191|6X191 - Grainger Industrial Supply

I've had the 6000 lb model of this on my trailer for over a year. It dragged a dead Dodge 1/2 ton with two flats up without any effort.
Off Road Winch with Automatic Load-Holding Brake, 12,000 lb. Capacity I've burnt out 1500 lb, 2000 lb and a 3000 lb winches hauling cars. My 6000 lb unit has performed flawlessly and I haul at least one dead car a month with it. I have 3 lined up to move next week. If you want,I have a coupon for the 12000 lb unit. It's on sale till the 31st for $299. If you want it,I'll email it to you if you can't find one on your own.

My SC weighs 2300 lbs and I use it a few times a year. I can't justify more $ than in the 3oo's.

Warn 9000 lb.
Maybe overkill for the trailer, but I have also had it mounted on the front of a Jeep. At the rate I've been using it, one good one like this will outlast me. First and most likely last winch I will ever buy. |

Thanks for the heads up, sure seems like a lot of winch for the money.

You also might be able to find from a magazine (AARP for instance) or print a 20% off coupon from their site and save $60 on top of that.

I had a superwinch worked twice and broke I then bought a warn with remote and use it constantly with no issues. I also put a solar battery charger on the roof the batteries always charged. Personally I think life's to short to deal with cheap crap y'all can have Harbor Freight
