New Cayman?

Has anyone heard any news or rumours about when Porsche intends to introduce the new Cayman?

Paul T 10-28-2012 11:34 AM

I think sometime in November.

Now if Porsche would only race the damn thing!

M.D. Holloway 10-28-2012 05:07 PM

yummy, Daddy like...

Por_sha911 10-28-2012 05:38 PM

Hopefully the new Cayman will bring the price on existing used ones down to a reasonable level. Look at the depreciation on Caymans versus Boxsters of similar years. I'm sure the volume of Boxsters has something to do with it but they shouldn't be that much different.

ShakinJoe 10-28-2012 06:10 PM

That looks good

speeder 10-28-2012 06:23 PM

Holy shiess is that an improvement.

gtc 10-28-2012 06:32 PM

That looks great.
I would rip off the Cayman badge and replace it with a 911 badge. Just for laughs.

The new Boxster is a real looker, I suspect the Cayman will be as well.

If you're an MR2 fan, sure. ;)

Neilk 10-28-2012 09:52 PM

Looks nice! But will it make it up and down the driveway? Any updates Marc?

My thoughts exactly.

Ha! My driveway saga...

I hope to have an update on this shortly. It took some time to find the best lawyer for this sort of thing, but he is now on the case and should report soon.

I thought that too when seeing pics, but in person, the new Boxster really does work.

Man, I could sure go for that.

aigel 11-16-2012 01:55 PM

Yawn. Too much Panamera in it, IMHO.

Still not liking it. Visually, the front and rear bumpers have this broad expanse to them that makes the car look heavy. It reminds me a bit of the 350Z in that area, but the Nissan was better proportioned. And I haven't liked the side intacts since the first 981 pics surfaced. I'm certain it's a great car, but it just doesn't look appealing. I'd get a used 997 turbo for my money.

azasadny 11-16-2012 03:23 PM

I like it...

Buckterrier 11-16-2012 03:42 PM

Me too Art. I'd buy one in a heartbeat.

I agree. I like the Boxster better.

pricing? I always wonder what could be purchased lightly used for the same money.

I agree with that too.

Being a board that is hosted on a DIY parts place's website, we are a tough crowd. We usually get to the cars when they are 10+ years old. At that time, I'd take a GT3 or Turbo 997.

Base Boxsters start at $49,500
Base Carreras start at $82,100

So I'm going to guess that a base Cayman will be approx $65,800.

Just my WAG.

Yep, that's what I see also. Sticking with my boxster for now, but Possibly thinking of going to a newish z06 (2010+) or 2002-2004 911 Turbo.

Agree completely. It's lost some of its voluptuousness, at least in photos.

My first thoughts too.

It's lost something, and it's gained something.

I'll have to see one in person to properly judge.

TheMentat 11-19-2012 12:41 PM

does it come in convertible?

And every guy in a Japanese sports car would longingly look at your new Cayman and wish he could have one too.
:D

aigel 11-19-2012 01:11 PM

I think here is where this was posted first:

SPIED 981 Cayman First Photos - PRIOR to LA Auto Show -

Interesting point the guys there make is that some of the car is still disguised. Upon a closer look I agree. The rear and the front still will have stuff removed. Maybe it will help!?
