Only listened to the Blood and Closer from In this moment.

Isn't this an Evanescence wannabe in Lady Gaga wardrobe?

Not being negative, she sounds great, just wondering how original.

Unoriginality is a killer. This is why everyone hated White Snake, they were trying too hard to be Led Zeppelin.

Hard to say. Music is typically evolutionary, so it's easy to compare one to another, yet neither are exactly the same. I suppose if you liked Evanescence you might like In This Moment but they're not the same. Amy Lee certainly has a purer tone than Maria Brink, so it likely appeals to a broader group. And Amy's image and theatrics is toned down compared to Maria's...as someone compared it to Marilyn Manson or Lady Gaga. Still, "Blood" is catchy and doesn't sound at all like any Evanescence tune.

You should hear what Shaun Morgan has to say about Amy Lee, btw. I spent a long night getting drunk with him in Lexington Kentucky and hearing him complain about Amy (while two hot chicks sat on his lap) and mourning the loss of his brother. It was tragic and I felt sorry for him.

And I really like Seven Mary Three, they had a good run for about a decade then went quiet. "Cumbersome" is destined to become a classic. Jason Ross' voice and style always reminded me of a Southern Eddie Vedder, which is a good thing.

Another 7M3, "Water's Edge"

I disagree somewhat. Too much originality can be a killer as well, particularly in the pop world (Katy Perry type garbage). It's a fine line to walk. You have to be accessible, but also not a copycat.

This has been on very heavy rotation on my ipod lately:

Remember Aaron Nordstrom, the lead singer of Gemini Syndrome? The albino that looks like an effigy of God? Aaron was the touring guitarist for Otep in 2007-2008 before founding GS.

Otep Shamaya fronts her L.A. based namesake band that laid the groundwork for other female scream-o's like In This Moment and Butcher Babies (more on them later).

Otep is NOT my cup of tea, but it might be yours

Look for Aaron in this live DVD video of Otep (or LH side of cover photo)

Another story in the six degrees of rock separation....

The guitarist for Gemini Syndrome is Rich Juzwick

He's also the studio guitarist for L.A. based September Mourning

The core of SM is Emily Lazar (Rich and Emily are currently dating, both are acquaintances of mine)
She's not really as scream-o, and their music to date is just so-so (imho)
Still, (she?) they have a niche following in the wrestling and comic-book world (heard of Mark Silvestri?)
SM's studio bassist is my friend Brent Ashley, who also plays for Static-X and Natural Born Killers (more on both later). I love Brent, he's really a great guy
Em is a classically trained ballerina from NYC and moved to LA last year. She's a sweet girl, and has striking features.
Another hot female singer? I guess..... She was a finalist for Revolver's "Hottest Chicks of Hard Rock" but didn't make the cut

Here's their only video, "Before the Fall", just released a couple weeks ago

I'd tend to agree, although it certainly depends. Note that none of the female artists I've posted have been my favorites, just tunes in my head or the storylines and connections.

Can't go wrong with Pantera! I'm sure there will be more Pantera posted

These bands seem very formulated. Could be wrong but do all of them have female singers, DD cups, and tat's?

I don't think Otep is about that at all, but it's my fault I posted a bare-midriff photo of her. Nor Halestorm, their music is pretty solid and Lzzy doesn't try to play the hot female any more than any girl her age. Maybe you're right about ITM and SM, but Emily has no tattoos.

And I don't think anyone would say the guys from Gemini Syndrome are sexy

Maybe I'll stick with some dude bands for awhile so you don't get the wrong idea.

That's funny. Take away the freaky clothes, makeup and ink and I might be more interested.

Is White Zombie considered classic rock now??

Dude band, Three Days Grace

I've got odd ties to Canadian bands. Three Days Grace is one of them.
Some of you know my connection with the Toronto band, My Darkest Days
The lead singer of MDD is Matt Walst, and his brother Brad Walst is the bassist for 3DG
We got an invite to see them play a couple weeks ago when they were in town
They've added a keyboardist (!!) and do some strange dubstep style electronica and Neil (drummer) starts his loooong drum solo by standing at the keyboards and bongo-ing a set of electronic drums while making spooky noises with the synth
Otherwise it's the same hard rocking show it's always been
Their new album "Transit to Venus" came out three weeks ago, and it's solid

This is "Chalk Outline" from their new album

Here's one you haven't heard of, and a little different genre..... rock-punk??

Young dudes, barely 21 when these videos were made

Moovalya

(like Move-All-Ya)
Phoenix based and haven't done much outside the area
I think they're musically talented, and look (and sound) like they're having fun
The bassist Sean is particularly gifted, and mixed well on their tracks

They sound a little like Green Day maybe, but a little harder influence and somehow smoother
My opinion. Decent eye candy in the video (previous drummer's GF)

Tell me what you think:

"She Will Bleed"

"Overdrive"

So much awesome in this video

Red Fang "Prehistoric Dog"

Okay, if Hank Williams (Jr and Sr), Dimebag Darrell (Pantera), and Zakk Wylde (Black Label Society) were somehow fused into one Texlahoma band.....

Texas Hippie Coalition

...would be the result. Not my favorite, but just rotated through and I like this video.

I'm done watching my auctions, and headed to the gym. So that's all for a while, enjoy.....

Yeah like VV said above female fronted bands just don't do it for me with very few exceptions namely Leather Leone singing for David Chastain.

I saw THC live when I was in Ok two years back for Rock N America they were pretty cool.

Speaking of Pantera, what I've been listening to.A Pre-Cowboys Pantera song I've been learning.

Didn't see the modern, well for that there's this a new album by the band Storm Warrior which I bought on a whim a few weeks ago at the music shop.

I was thinking more Lacuna Coil with some circa-1975 Kiss theatrics thrown in.

Lacuna Coil (from 2002)

This is in my kitchen, I'm looking to get out of the Slipknot/Filter/MM rut I've been in. I don't listen to any female singers, but OTEP sounds interesting. That Before the Fall video reminds me of 80s butt rock.

Here's a proper video, timely as well. Best live band I've ever seen.
