In Case You Needed More Evidence......

That California is indeed the "Land of Fruits and Nuts".....
PETA wants sign to memorialize dead fish | sign, fish, letter - News - The Orange County Register

"Research tells us that fish use tools, tell time, sing, and have impressive long-term memories and complex social structures, yet fish used for food are routinely crushed, impaled, cut open, and gutted, all while still conscious."....

Brando 10-29-2012 07:36 PM

In my city nonetheless. I would find it highly ironic if someone would be kind enough to leave a bunch of (already killed, days ago) unsold market fish on her lawn.

djmcmath 10-30-2012 05:09 AM

That is spectacular. Wow.

The PETA building in Norfolk, VA, is right on the water. Every year there's a giant fishing event held, intentionally, right in front of their building. At least we have the freedom to say stupid stuff, right?

GH85Carrera 10-30-2012 05:17 AM

A local university had a PETA BBQ. People For eating Tasty Animals signs were out and they had a good turnout for the BBQ. It just so happened that the other PETA was having a protest there at the same time.

We are on the top of the food chain, not understanding that or embrassing that is just an insult to the rest of us that do recognize it...

aigel 10-30-2012 10:33 PM

You laugh, but these jerks will take our freedom to eat what we want. And to hunt what we want, keep the pet we want etc. They are starting in CA, as they get the most support in the urban areas there, and will roll this crap out in the rest of the country. Their buddies from the HSUS are even worse. Don't expect to eat a frog, horse meat or hunt in CA 20 years from now.

A friend has a bumper sticker that says "I love animals, they are delicious."

PETA has a campaign to get kids to adopt rats as pets. PETA theorizes that If rats are pets, people will oppose testing on rats.

When I lived in Massachusetts, a co-worker of my wife, the children had a pet rat. In the ultimate irony, it got a tumor...

My my nieces in San Diego had pet rats. And they had more than one. I asked my sister: "What do you call it when you have more than one rat?"

"I don't know."

"An Infestation!"

Geezus! We domesticated cats to KILL rodents!

The director of the california fish and game dept was recently forced to resign.
Why you might ask?
because he participated in a LEGAL mountain lion hunt in Idaho, where they use controlled hunting to maintain a healthy population of the predators.
The humane society (where so many of you claim to donate charity dollars) led the charge, demanding that he step down.
THAT is how f-ed up california is. If you hunt you are no longer fit for public service.

For the record, the humane society now is only one step from PETA. It started out as a good thing but was eventually polluted with wacko activists.

BTW, hunting mountain lions is illegal in california.
Since that law was passed, the population has swelled to the point where there isn't enough foood to support the poulation.
Since the law was passed, 10 people have been attacked in kalifornia by mountain lions and 4 died and an estimate 200 lions have been put down by law enforcement for venturing into neighborhoods and parks searching for something to eat.

I like being at the top of the food chain, but evidently the majority of people in california do not.

A couple years ago there was a story about how PETA wanted to change the name of trout to sea kittens. So that people wouldn't want to eat them.

There's a show on TV about people who get parasites, "the monsers inside me" or something like that.

One guy on the show got really sick and almost died before they eventually discovered the cause of his illness. He contracted a common parasite from his pet rats.

hahhahahha..

i sing KUMBAYA at least 3 times a week!! my cholesterol is going down!!

KNS 10-31-2012 07:41 AM

My sister and I had pet rats as kids - they make great pets! The irony is that when my sister was 18 she had a part time job at a vivarium where they tested (and killed) rats pretty routinely. This was in Socal - the horror!

They fill both roles just fine.

... they followed up with a campaign against hound hunting. Bear and bobcat now are off the list for pursuit with a dog. It was done through the legislature, started by a senator from Torrance (an area with exactly zero bear population). Your dog now can be shot by a warden without questions asked if he perceives it is chasing a bear or bobcat. This includes the family labrador that may run off on a hike. To make up for the lost revenue from hound hunters, they included mammal hunting amendments that will allow to make up fees and licenses on what's still left to hunt with dogs (rabbits, coons, pigs and foxes ...)

Whenever you have a chance to speak up against this silliness, please do. This includes contacting your representatives if another bill is in the works.

Yep, California is a rotten awful place to live and I think all of you should avoid it like the plague. Don't even think of coming here.
Pic was taken yesterday while the east coast was decimated. The pic could have been taken the day before or the week before or last month. Maybe it was the beginning of the year. Can't recall as most of the year is like this.

There's a local talk-radio blowhard (imagine Rush Limbaugh with even less talent) who is constantly ragging about how bad California is; so why don't you move already!

That being said, I think the environmental movement originally started with good intentions - they didn't want California to become the *****hole that the rest of you carpetbaggers were coming from, and they did do some good. The problem is once they got to a certain point and they should have let off the gas (so to speak), but they kept on going and now the movement is a caricature of its former self. Same goes for CARB; they did improve air quality, but now they're chasing those last few percentage points of improvement and its just getting stupid. It's as if their mission is just to expand their mission.
