It's worth it if you can stop by.

Silly question...what's the address? We just might do that...are you open on Saturday? :)

Thanks for the input guys! Right now we're thinking back to Irvine Friday night, C&C Saturday morning, south to Laguna Beach, then up the coast to Santa Monica. Surely there's plenty to see along the way. I realize this may mean we miss the true "LA experience", but considering our flying weekend, it might be best to have an option to relax a bit and just enjoy the view. ..so to speak.

More later...

Relax? RELAX? THIS IS L.A., WE DON'T STINKIN RELAX!!!!

To have the real L.A. experience you must suffer on the freeway!

But seriously... I bet you don't leave Laguna once you get there... spending the whole day kicking back on the beach would not be a bad thing. I would definitely try to get by Pelican... there is a semi famous coffee shop near Laguna... family owned operation that has their own coffee plantation in south America... I probably got that all wrong but I'm sure someone will correct me.

Hey! Those are my roads! Stay away! Mine, mine, mine!!!

But if you must look out for sheriffs with radar (ask me how I know).

Um... you do know there is a airport in Irvine right?

If you are after an interesting place to stay in the middle of everything: Inn at Playa del Rey. My wife & I stayed there 8 yrs ago or so. 15 minutes from LAX & you will swear that you are nowhere near LA.

And if I was touristing LA - which I have done numerous times - walk a bit of Venice Beach if the weather co-operates, ditto Santa Monica Pier, drive up & over Topanga Canyon to the Valley, cross 101 & down 405 to Beverly Hills for Rodeo Dr, head north & street park in Brentwood & bus up to the Getty for its stunning views.

That's about 5 minutes from my work, and about 5 minutes from where I sail :D

Booked hotels in Irvine for Wednesday through Friday night. We'll hit C&C Saturday morning, then head to Santa Monica. Booked a hotel close to the pier and aquarium. Hope to spend the better part of Saturday afternoon and evening around there.

Is the Pelican "office" open on Saturdays? If so, we may try to make a stop in to see. It's definitely on our way up. :)
