Wow, that is huge! Disney gets ILM and Skywalker Sound in the deal. George is a rich man!

kaisen 10-30-2012 12:54 PM

$4 BILLION isn't really a lot of money

I mean, it's a lot to me, but not a lot for all that

tharbert 10-30-2012 12:55 PM

I thought I heard recently that George was going to remake the trilogy. Guess not...

Interesting.

In 2015, we're planning to release Star Wars Episode 7 – the first feature film under the "Disney-Lucasfilm" brand. That will be followed by Episodes 8 and 9 – and our long term plan is to release a new Star Wars feature film every two to three years.

It's less than Jobs got for Pixar, but still $2.2 billion cash and close to 3% ownership of Disney is a nice nest egg.

I think it's also a bit more stock in the Mouse than HughR has...:D

BlueSkyJaunte 10-30-2012 01:39 PM

We need to buy the Bond franchise next. I always wanted to work on a 007 movie. Mission Impossible? meh, who cares.

mikester 10-30-2012 06:54 PM

I wonder what they are going to do with this 'Episode 7' and the next movies...where will they pick up? After the RotJ? Old Republic? Somewhere in the middle?

JonT 10-30-2012 07:23 PM

Wasnt John Carter a huge Disney Sci-fi flop? Not much hope for these future movies.
