ShakinJoe 11-03-2012 05:53 PM

My last named is Shukys which was changed fom Sukis when gramps got off the boat from Europe. Shukys actually rhymes with cookies but no one could pronounce my name. Friends started calling me shake n bake well before Ricky Bobby and it got shortened to Shakin or ShakinJoe.

My college friends still call me Shakin.

My favorite job while I was in the military, 12 of my 25 years were working with the pups. :D

crustychief 11-04-2012 11:36 AM

I was active duty when I joined PP. I was Operations Department LCPO, I was also the most senior CPO ( Chief ) on the ship. One of my guys told my division that I was the crustiest, saltiest mofo in the Navy. It morphed into Crustychief.

The first porsche I ever owned on my own was a 944 turbo.
The first letter of my first name is T
Hence T951.
Should I keep it updated? T997S?

It's what my friends have called me for as long as I can remember, which is short for my last name Wesenick.

zotman72 11-04-2012 06:14 PM

Ok, once again I will explain my moniker. Long ago in the day, I used to write software code primarily C and C++ . Lot of the work was with arrays and I could never just use bland counter variable names (e.g. i, u, z etc.). I was trying to be cute at the time and used the word "zot." Well, we were doing a code review once on a Federal contract, and some dweeb complained about my variable name. They wanted to know who was using "zot", and I said it was I, I am the "zotman."
The 72 is for my first and still favorite 911, 1972 T.

I tried to teach one of my girlfriends in college to use "significant" variable names. She liked to use things like her favorite colors, names of friends, etc.

unclebilly 11-04-2012 08:14 PM

Way back in the day, there was a magazine called National Lampoon. There was story in there about 'Cousin Leopold'. The story told of a kid's uncle billy, who has a son that he named 'unclebilly' and another son, also named 'unclebilly'. Everyone was relieved when uncle billy named his third son 'cousin leopold'... this is about all I recall from the story but it was mildly amusing.

I think my favorite story from that magazine was 'multilated staples', it was about working in a salvage food store...

jcommin 11-04-2012 09:52 PM

jcommin was my first screen name used where I work. J is first letter of my first name, commin is 2 letters short of my last name. Have used it a very long time.

BigInJapan 11-04-2012 09:54 PM

Big In Japan: Tom Waits song...

One of my favorites.

VINMAN 11-05-2012 08:44 AM

Few of my friends started calling me the VinMan right after highschool. "The VinMan" was the Andrew dice Clay character in the movie Casual Sex. the name stuck with me ever since.

slakjaw 11-05-2012 08:47 AM

My screen name no longer has any meaning to me.

flipper35 11-05-2012 10:30 AM

Nickname from my last name and 35 from dad's choice in racing numbers.

genrex 11-05-2012 12:02 PM

The meaning of my user-name is really dumb, but oh well...

When I got my first computer in 1999, I had an RX-7, known among enthusiasts as a "rex"... and I have a fondness for women with big (generous) tracts of land. So I combined the two words into "genrex" on the RX-7 website, and even though I sold the RX-7 in 2003, I decided to stay with that user-name when I joined Pelican and other websites for the sake of consistency... and okay, full disclosure, because it's easy for me to remember. ;)

[Cue Monty python accent on]

What's not to like? She has HUGE... tracks of land!

[Monty python accent off]

genrex 11-05-2012 12:35 PM

Too funny! :) Yeah, that's why it's easy to remember. We never had this conversation... this tape will self-destruct in 10 seconds...

rcooled 11-05-2012 05:38 PM

From a vanity plate on one of my old 911s. It's like the "R" we breathe...say it out loud.

I'd sure like to have that car back...

asphaltgambler 11-06-2012 06:37 AM

Me: It's a CB name that I used (back-in-days-of-old) that came from a guy that I knew who had a race car named " Mississippi (sp?) Gambler" I thought it was cool but needed my version.

Since I'm a Hot-Rod and bike guy since birth, I incorporated that theme with life or death on the road / highway/blacktop. I later put that on my Dragbike where it exists today.

BTW anyone here who does not know what "CB" is - it is the earliest Redneck version of the Internet

NutmegCarrera 11-06-2012 01:02 PM

Color of my car
Not very common, and I have grown to really enjoy it.
"Nutmeg Brown Metallic"
