LCD/LED tv vs monitor

is there any real difference in a LED/LCD monitor and a tv unit of the same size
other then the tv having a built in tuner ?

I am looking for a 24-28'' size monitor but tv's are cheaper in that size range

I want a 1920/1080 not the way over priced 2500 or the lower end 720 units
can I expect the same performance from a tv as a monitor now with lcd/led units

what numbers to look for contrast responce or others ??

cpu is an older 4 core 6600 intel gpu is a 512m passive [no fan] cheapie

lcd tv's will max out at 1920x1080.

lcd monitors can go well beyond that resolution...if u need to.

response time is another factor. although tv's will most likely have better color rendition than your cheapie lcd monitor. look up comparison of TN vs IPS lcd panels.

One big difference is the TVs comes with a remote, the monitor does not.

The TV will have a tuner of some sort and is usually more compatible with watch TV.

I bought a monitor to use as a TV in my home office and had a difficult time setting it up. The picture was not great. I ordered the same make and size of unit as a TV and it hooked up easy and looked great. The monitor I hooked up to my computer and it is great. I love my 27 inch computer monitor!
