ND pulls it off

Notre Dame goes 9-0.
Normally if a team loses me money by not beating the spread I hope they lose too, but I was really rooting for ND to win even if they cost me some bucks doing it today.

I wasn't brave (crazy?) enough to bet the money line on Pitt, but there at the end I was thinking about you guys. What would the payoff have been?
Curently watching USC trying to earn me a tank of gas and not doing a bad job - so far.

I can't understand how a school/team that hasn't had a great season in years is so deeply resented when they do. I love college football for the very reason that anything can happen from year to year and game to game...makes it great!! I say go ND!! (but I'm not really crazy about catholicism)

It is because the media loves ND so much and they have for years and years traditionally been put in post-season bowl games - even though other teams were better and had better records.

Other than that.....

Pitt handed them the win. And this is a team that started off the year getting beat by a Div 1A team. If ND is a national championship quality team I can't say I'm impressed.

I've thought that one of the best things to come out of Texas A&M was Bob Davie - right to ND.

Les Paul 11-03-2012 06:40 PM

And the best thing to leave Texas to the sec is A&M

I love college football and this weekend was great! ND and bama both nearly gave up their seasons. Growing up a Michigan fan the only bad thing about yesterday is that Ohio State is still unbeaten.

Some teams have so strong of a history, so many wins, so many championships, so many hesiman winners that they DESERVE a little more respect and attention from sportscasters.
Teams like ND and USC. They've earned it.
And that invariably results in resentment by fans of other teams who haven't got such rich history of success. Like the dux ;)

The Fighting Irish have 13 recognized national championships, tied for first out of all FBS schools in the post-1900 era. ....
A record seven Notre Dame players have won the Heisman trophy (Ohio State won 7 trophies with 6 players). Additionally, Notre Dame has produced an NCAA record 96 consensus All-Americans, and 32 unanimous All-Americans (more than any other university).

ND is college football period! All others are im-a-tatas...

onewhippedpuppy 11-05-2012 07:59 AM

Sorry Sammy, but that's a load of bs. It's also the reason why USC has been able to retain a relatively high ranking with their mediocre performance. Relevance decades ago means nothing today.

What Baz said + the fact they were always ranked, again, ahead of more deserving teams so they could be placed in said bowls, even in the beginning of the year. Personally I think it's great they don't have a lot of criminals on their team. But place them where they should be placed.

And the cheating at "lack of institutional control" USC continues

USC coach Lane Kiffin says manager deflating footballs acted alone - ESPN Los Angeles

Yeah, right, some student manager takes in on himself to tamper with the game balls. LOL. Exactly no one believes that.

I just hope Kiffin never gets fired. I hope he is their coach forever!
