magazine prices $$$

I just purchased 2 Wilson Combat 1911 mags for $76! I could have bought 7 p-mags for my AR for the same price. Why are hand gun magazines so expensive? End of rant thank you.

Not so bad...................

Try buying a magazine for a 1903 or 1908 Colt hammerless pocket pistol. The originals are bringing $100.00 or more (sometimes lots more) each! The same for
Colt Woodsman mags, especially the original mags for the 2nd model Woodsman with the push button mag release!

What? I have never paid more than $37 ea. for Wilson 47D magazines. I like them and use them for carry purposes but most 1911 mags work just fine.

$76 was for 2. They had cheaper Wilson models but I wanted to try out the mags with the low profile base pad which are a couple of bucks more. still pretty expensive in my book. Not as bad as what Fred mentioned though!

Gotcha. I missed that part. You know how to spell Wil$on Combat, right?

Like I said I have a limited number of the 47Ds. Plus, I often carry either a commander bobtail or a Colt Defender, both of which really demand flush base mags. So the WCs are a non-starter there.

I've found the Colt factory mags typically work just fine. I have had horrendous luck with Kimber and Chip McCormick mags, though.

I don't carry a 1911 much, but my Springfield Champion is Commander-size and I use Chip Mc 8 rd. mags that are flush with the grip. They work great, but it's just a heavy gun and my Glock is way more disposable, weighs less and holds five more rds. If I lose it, no biggie. If I lost a 1911, I'd be upset.

Yeah I have a Chip Mc 8 rd mag that is flush as well. I have a Taurus and as bad of a rep that they have, the only problem I have ever had with it was the cheap mags that came with it. Both developed cracks on the feed lips causing the weapon to jam. So now I am just experimenting with different models to see what I like.

As a fringe benefit I get pawn shop prices on stuff like that. The Wilson I picked up came with a half-dozen mags. I probably have 50 various others (but then I like 1911's).

Love my McCormick shooting stars, both 8 and 10 round. $16 each after shipping when I got my 1911 a few years ago. My GSG 1911-22 mags are expensive- buddys wholesale price to me is 25ish, local place that carries them has 'em for 33 OTD.

Check cdnninvestments.com - they have a deal on stainless factory colt mags

I have a Chip Mc shooting star 8 rounder. It seems to work just fine. $16 is a good deal, I wouldn't complain about that. I hear good things about the Wil$on Combat, (just learned the correct spelling today ) so thought I would give them a try.
