What are you using for your private email?

Wife was/is on Yahoo mail so I opened an account, I pretty much like the email format and the calender... only problem is yahoo mail goes down a couple times a week and when it does work it is s-l-o-w...

Got an Andriod phone and opened a Gmail account but just don't care for that format.

We use Outlook at work, like it... but not sure how to set up a home/private account that will work on our cell phone and will not conflict with my work outlook account.

Ciao!

Do you want or need to sync your phone email wit your computer?

Teutonics 11-07-2012 09:29 AM

I use both yahoo and gmail, and prefer gmail of the two. I also just got an account on outlook.com which is linked to MS Skydrive and live.com. So far I like the email format (and the @outlook.com address), and the SkyDrive capabilities are really good.

G-mail. Love it. My kids school uses google calendar, so its crazy easy to add school events to our family calendar.

My own domain, with a webmail system running off the webserver, as well as both pop3-ssl and imap4-ssl access for phone and desktops. But them I'm an edge case...

Yes please... tried gmail, account still open... I'll try again... tried to sync yahoo calender with my phone and something is not working...

I prefer yahoo to gmail, just yahoo seems to have issues...

And then there is the whole google spying issue...

We use hotmail also, I think it's got one of the best junk filters....

Hotmail has evolved into OUTLOOK.COM. Pretty sure you can sync it to phones. Work very well on my Windows RT. At least worth a look.

I use my own, but I would tell you to steer well clear of GMAIL. Google paid record setting fines last year for their handling of your personal information. And as much as I shouldn't bite the hand that feeds, they are truly a shifty company. Today they owe another 1.3 billion to France in tax evasion penalties.

Same here.

Yes, sure.

Google fined $25,000 for impeding FCC investigation | Reuters

Google fined $22.5M for latest privacy breakdown - Yahoo! News

Google fined

You can go on for days with their privacy violations alone never mind the mountain of other fines they have paid for their business practices.

Outlook on bellsouth.net but it's tied to Yahoo which I don't use. The tie in is a drag to coordinate both, but I've had the same email address for 10-12 years.

Also have a gmail account for random/suspect reasons.

rattlsnak 11-07-2012 08:27 PM

gmail.. nothing else seems to work as good..

masraum 11-07-2012 09:28 PM

You can also use Outlook to read your Gmail mail if you don't like the gmail website.

This almost to the letter. I have two Android phones and the Gmail calendar seems to work better for me. Work email is through outlook so I can sync accounts to the work or personal phone if I want. -J

This is why I avoid google... but then the default android email is gmail... DOH!

I setup a hotmail (outlook) account... we will see how it works (sync's).

I did link my hotmail account into the Outlook in Office 2007, and really have liked it. Now it just downloads to my desktop without having to access through the browser, plus a bit more user friendly than hotmail.
