of being an employed Porsche or BMW mechanic? Do customers for instance ever personally thank u for a job well done?

I sure do...

I nearly always DIY, but there are excellent local BMW and Porsche independents that I have dealt with. I always thank them and recommend them to others. I don't think either has to advertise, their reputation does it for them.
